Hi ladies. About a month ago I met this guy via a dating app who I really, REALLY clicked with (I’m 23, he’s 28). We share a lot of interests, values, opinions, and hobbies, and engage with each in such a way that I rarely engage with anyone, even most of my friends. I really admire him, I’m extremely attracted to him, and he’s moving at a pace I find really pleasant and respectful. This would be basically a PERFECT connection… if it wasn’t for the fact that he’s moving back to (unspecified state across the country) where he has an apartment, his car, all his belongings, and a pet VERY soon. Like within a few weeks. When we began talking we both established that we were looking for a relationship but he also made me aware of the upcoming move and I took a “we’ll get there when we get there” approach, but now that I’m attached, of course, I’m beginning to feel itchy, especially because we haven’t really discussed what’s actually going to happen then. He has asked to see me in the next couple days so it’s obvious we “like” each other but there’s also no boyfriend/girlfriend label or establishment of exclusivity or explicit talk about where things are going, and with time running out and not much initiative with regards to these topics on his part I’m just assuming the worst at this point.

I’ve considered the idea of long distance; I have reservations but I’m also not flat-out opposed to it. That said, again, I anticipate most of the responses being “if he wanted to he would” — trust me, I’m aware. I’m mainly looking for advice on a respectable way to voice my feelings and break things off since at this point I don’t expect things to work but I’d like some closure and clarity.

(Although if anyone wants to get my hopes up again you’re certainly welcome 😉)
