15 or so years ago I would google around looking for feminists who were talking about the MRAs and evo psych. Was anybody pushing back on what was being said? Were there any feminists countering Baumeister with Blaffer-Hrdy was basically what I was looking for. Didn't find anything like that happening. Closest thing was Amanda Marcotte complaining about evo psych being terrible because "it says women are just whores" and how very dare they insult women in such ways. Ugh. Marcotte made the same moral judgements that the MRAs were making, just coming from a different direction. There were NEVER any counter arguments or analysis given that came from evolutionary science but that had a pro-woman or at least woman-understanding bent to it. I knew back then that the lack of such arguments was a serious mistake.

Interestingly, hypotheses on the evolution of male sexuality are not discussed much in the manosphere: as if only women were strategising fitness-maximising animals. Moreover, hypotheses on female sexuality are received in an emotional, moralistic, and conservative framework, causing biased interpretations of the scientific literature.

Yeah, this is something that I sure noticed, and it's bonkers. The way male 'strategies' were seen as "blessed by evolution" - ie. male preferences came from evolution and therefore they are good and right and should continue because it got us where we are - while female strategies were cursed - ie. even though they also came from evolution they were somehow wrong and bad were obviously leading to the downfall of western civilization.

Unfortunately, this is a very weak rebuttal that just glues a bunch of random questionable quotes together and doesn't really debunk anything.

Is there evidence for a dual mating strategy in women? If so, how are men supposed to respond to it?
