STBXW and I just signed a mediated settlement agreement after several brutal rounds of mediation. We're in Texas. My lawyer says they now have to turn the MSA into a final divorce decree for submission to the court. They've told me that there will be fights with the other side over the decree, and that we'll "probably" have to arbitrate over some parts of the decree. This is annoying to me, because (1) I thought converting the MSA to the decree was pretty boilerplate/straightforward (and the fights were all over the terms of the MSA, which is now done), and (2) I'm tired of paying legal fees. Can anyone who did an MSA in Texas (or elsewhere, I guess) provide some insight/thoughts on your experience going from the MSA to the final decree? Was it pretty straightforward/boilerplate, or was it actually a huge production that I need to be prepared for, just when I thought the worst was over?
