As an intact man, I can tell you where I am on circumcision.

I'm out.

It's a terrible idea and never had any reason to begin.

Intact men almost never decide to get cut, that tells you all you need to know.

The double standard is disgusting. Two horrible things need not be equal, for both to cause harm.

They both violate the right to bodily autonomy, first and foremost. That’s irrefutable.

There is no amount of “research” needed to justify cosmetic amputation on children. Anyone who thinks otherwise should be kept far away from children.

Don’t understand why men are willing to emasculate themselves for any reason. Americans are mentally challenged. The only solution is to remove the circumcision line item from medical insurance plans. As soon as people start to receive harassment from medical collections agencies, then there will be a change.

It might end when someone who has access to the medical insurance plans for one’s business pushes the issue to defund circumcision. Unless a person grows a backbone, the sheep in America will not listen to reason. Money talks and smart men listen. Guys, I’m not hear to argue with anyone. My experiences tell me that talking about it accomplishes little or nothing. The line item for circumcision in an insurance plan is the key to convincing people to keep their kids intact. Remove that line item and the circumcision rate will drop.

I think the public health arguments are specious except for near endemic HIV, and even then it's a population who don't usually use condoms, UN would have better luck handing out PrEP than pamphlets about circumcision.

It's at least a little encouraging that this is a discussion involving informed consent for adults for a health concern, not a ritual genital mutilation because dicks are harder to wash in a desert.

Just because MGM is horrifying, that’s no reason to excuse FGM. And I don’t believe for a second that circumcision doesn’t effect sexual pleasure or the ability to orgasm.

With FGM the ability to orgasm may not be as effected if the labia are clipped. But if the clitoris is removed, there is just no way ability to orgasm wouldn’t be effected. There are even types of FGM where they essentially sew the vagina closed. That would certainly effect the ability to enjoy sex. Even clipping labia, while not as bad as clitoral removal, will effect sexual pleasure.

At the end of the day, circumcision is mutilation, whether it’s done to a male or female, and we shouldn’t excuse it any situation, even if some types aren’t as bad as other types. It’s just my opinion that we shouldn’t go around saying it’s not a big deal in that regard. It is a big deal to the men and women it is done to.

The article is about african women convincing african men with HIV to have a circumcisions because that (supposedly) reduces the odds of HIV spreading.

I'm not arguing for or against that idea, but you should be honest about what the article is about in your OP, misleading posts like yours are a detriment to the MRM.
