Look at Steve Jobs, he didn't do shit except create a vision and network constantly. Even looking at Zuckerberg's Facebook, the movie The Network says it all. Without the movement the programming would've been useless

Do you really think that any of those kind of business people like Bill Gates would still be in “the programmer role” if things happened today? There’s so much effort involved with even basic startups. The website needs to run on a framework which needs middleware and a templating engine and then the layouts and backend including security, SEO, databases. Then there’s the app, that a whole different beast (especially if you make it cross platform), etc. No business people do this nitty gritty shit. At best they’ll come up with what the website and app should look like and make one of their developers do the rest. Usually they’ll just do nothing.
