Men being the most frequent victims of murder is gender-based violence against men (according to feminists' own logic); don't let anyone tell you that it's not because, e.g., it's "by other men" or "not done for sexist reasons"

After all, the feminist-approved Istanbul Convention (technically, the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence) defines “gender-based violence against women” as follows in Article 3(d):

“gender-based violence against women” shall mean violence that is directed against a woman because she is a woman or that affects women disproportionately; [bold mine]

When dealing with us, feminists always try to make us forget the second part of this definition, and attempt to narrow the first part to the point of impossibility (i.e., basically to say that it's not "gender-based violence against men" unless someone goes full Valerie Solanas on a man), all while accepting the broadest conceptions of gender-based violence against women. However, for the sake of focus, I will only examine the second part of the definition for this post.

Note that it doesn't say that the violence disproportionately affecting women has to be carried out by men (hence the Convention expressly mentioning FGM as a form of gender-based violence against women to be combatted, despite being committed mostly by other women), nor does it have to be carried out for explicitly sexist reasons. It just has to disproportionately affect one sex.

Therefore, all non-sexual violent crime against men is gender-based violence against men. Drafts are also gender-based violence against men (since Article 3(a) of the Convention mentions acts likely to result in "physical, sexual, psychological or economic harm or suffering" and "arbitrary deprivation of liberty" as violence, and Article 33 defines psychological violence as "intentional conduct of seriously impairing a person’s psychological integrity through coercion or threats," and drafts pretty much survive on threats of removal of civil rights).

In short, so many things that are normalized when done to men would be deemed human rights abuses if the standards provided for in international legal instruments to protect women and their rights were also applied to men. I could provide further examples of this all day.

It's time to use feminist legal instruments against them and in our favor!
