Here I am, 4 months ago we were happily married! She walked out on the marriage after 3 weeks! Have spent significant amount of time in therapy since. Very helpful as it shed light that the whole relationship I was suffering in silence and being abused. Comments like ‘we will chop your balls off too like my dads’ were not really harmless jokes. The mom choosing the date of the wedding, huge involvement in our living arrangements after and planning everything was also a bit of a sign. The mom often joked, I was like the dad.. a centless student and not from this country whilst they are medical professionals. She wanted a replication of her mothers marriage where the dad is a dominated, financially and emotionally. Obviously she misread my kind and gentile manner for someone who could be walked over. There was an apparent power struggle when married ( we never lived together before). Things I did or said was met with tears, accusations and her doubting the marriage. I have since been enlightened that tears were a way of manipulation all throughout our relationship difficulties. For instance, asking for help on one week night as I moved cities to be with her in marriage was met with an emotional outburst of me controlling her and banning her from certain activities on that weeknight. I was having work related mental health problems that I confided in her and she felt unable to support me/ worried of her ability to cope etc. She decided to end it by moving out on the third week on a reverse play that I was the one being controlling, emotionally abusive etc and seeked a divorce with zero contact after she went to her mothers. She didn’t even let me pack my own things. I have been left with the aftermath of the shame, relocating, changing cities etc. It was almost like I was dispencible to her.
