Women may struggle with mental health more than men during a divorce or separation after the age of 50, according to new research.

"Our findings suggest that the adverse mental health effects of divorce fall more heavily on women whereas the beneficial mental health effects of re-partnering are weaker among them,"....

Yet another slanted study. Remember people, context is king. The byline even tells you:

“Women may have more difficulties with their mental health during a separation later in life than men, a new study examining antidepressant use has found.”

Note that this is based on antidepressant use. Not actual rates of suicide, mental health contacts, surveys of divorced individuals, court filings, bankruptcy or any other relevant metric.

That means more women than men sought and received pills post divorce. Not that they had better or worse outcomes, just that they got meds.

And they never talk about the tools used to get to the conclusion. Women tend to go therapy more then men oh yeah with that alimony money of course. Men try to find peace until they die and try to get life together. So if they have only checked the in patient records of depression therapy than they still are half knowledge minds which is dangerous not to mention wrong too.

From the article it just sounds like they think they'll be happier once they divorce, but then afterwards they end up realizing it didn't make them happier and regret it.

“She added that it could be that women seek more help for mental health problems than men, with women taking antidepressants more often than men.”

In other words; there’s still a stigma around men seeking help.
