I'd create a throwaway, but screw it - I have nothing to hide.

Just like the title says, I am in the unenviable position of having a court date this Wednesday to fight an Ex Parte (emergency) Order for Protection that my wife filed. I was home sick from work a few weeks ago, and was roused out of bed by three police officers who wasted no time in letting me know that I had 10 minutes to pack a bag and get out of my house. My house that I own outright without her on the deed, with her paying $0 toward the mortgage, utilities, appliance repair, etc.

My wife of nearly 3 years, who I love and was trying to work out issues with, managed to convince a judge that I was an imminent danger to her and my son due to issues over a year ago with drinking and suicidal ideation, along with me being a law abiding firearm owner. I will go to jail for 2 days if I so much as attempt to contact or interact with my son, who I love dearly and miss tremendously. I can't pet my cat who's been with me for 9 years, through all my trials and tribulations, the cat who wants nothing other than to follow me around like a puppy and sleep on my legs at night. I get to live out of a backpack in my uncle's basement and tiptoe around questions from friends and family about why my son and wife aren't at any social event I'm attending.

All this for a guy who has never laid a finger on my wife or son and never would. All this for a guy who has not and never would threaten my wife or son. A guy who hasn't had a DUI, not even so much as a speeding ticket in over 10 years. I'm seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist and getting myself right. I'm happy to say my mental health is in a much better place, and I have a successful career - primary breadwinner/provider for my family.

Just her words to a judge put me in this situation, no due process or ability to defend myself. I'm the only one who has to defend myself, and any of her behavior is irrelevant in the hearing this week. She stabbed me in the back with an ice cold malicious move. Pretended that everything was hunky-dory right up until the day I got served the paperwork. I booked flights for a wedding in June while she was putting together her hit-piece documents. Abused the emergency order system that is meant for women who are actually in danger, those who have been beat by their deadbeat loser husbands/boyfriends.

Sorry for ranting/venting. The fucked up thing is that I still want to reconcile with her and figure this out like adults, even after she did this to me. Ripped our family apart, and if it doesn't go my way on Wednesday, I'll have the DOMESTIC ABUSER scarlet letter for the rest of my life, without ever actually having hurt her or threatened to hurt her.
