How do you practice cold approaching?

This helped me. It may help you too.

Start by talking to more people. You're not picking these people up, you're not trying to force them to have a long conversation with you, you're just getting yourself used to meeting a new person and having an interaction with them.

Starting off, respect people, their time, their space, and their right to not communicate with you. Should go unsaid, but the following should be easy going and positive for you and everyone around you.

Go to a store where employee uniforms are allowed to be more personalized. Ask the person who helps you or rings you up about their personal choices. Do not differentiate between men and women, old and young, etc. They are all just people. If you can make a personal connection to their personal choice you may notice more interaction.

"Your shoes are so sparkly. My niece would just go crazy for them! She puts glitter on everything"

"Is that a Halloween cat, Halloween was over 4 months ago"

"I've heard ____ boots last forever, have you had them long?"

You should be genuinely interested, especially with their response.

Also acceptable, but less effective, get their opinion on something in the store. It can be something obscure but better something they walk past every time they go to work.

Examples:

"Did you find everything today?"

Big box hardware store

"I really liked the look of those cherry trees but they were $120! Is it just a tree or do you get something else with it?"

Grocery store

"Maybe, I got lost looking at the Oreos and I think I forgot some things. How can there be so many flavors?"

Electronics store

"Yeah, I've been saving for this! Have you used the insurance policy, or do you know much about it?"

Coffee shop

"Which of these pastries is your favorite? Do you know where they come from?"

Your goal is to be able to create your own reason to have a conversation. It may be genuine, you're frustrated about the return policy. It may be something you made up for fun, what happens if the power goes out at the ice cream shop, do they race to eat it all?

Also while you're in line watch other people's interactions. You'll see some check out people naturally illicit conversations from their customers and some are just there to do a job. Watch their nonverbal interactions and note when they are successful at having a conversation and when they aren't.

Force yourself to do this every time until it no longer bothers you to have a conversation with anyone in a business transaction at any time for any (reasonable) reason. The oldest man, the most beautiful woman, the manager, whoever you are interacting with find something to talk about or fail trying.

Then you can move on to people who aren't necessarily required to interact with you. Low pressure interactions. Compliments, asking for directions, have you ever been to the bakery across the street, where would you go to get an avocado, "I see those coffee cups everywhere where did it come from?" "Did you have to wait in line for that?"

You can do this while also practicing cold approach or to get you comfortable with eventually approaching, but eventually you will have to move on if you want to move on. If you think about it this is essentially cold approach, you've just removed the possibility of sexual interactions from your mind and guaranteed some form of an interaction to make it easier for you.

Compliments, questions, and listening. We are humans who like genuine human interaction. Do you like compliments? Talking about yourself? Being heard?

Instead of practicing with the intention of sex, try the intention of getting to know a person. It will flow from there ;)

start off making eye contact and smiling at them. cant do that? start with old people then work your way to younger and more attractive women. do that to 50 women.

now say hi to 50 women. again start with old people then work your way to younger and more attractive women. do that to 50 women.

now that you can say hi now its time to actually strike up a conversation. again do that with 50 women starting with old people if it helps.

start doing this and report back.

First u gotta start with saying hi to people n walkin away nothing else. After that you move to hi how are you and then to actually starting a conversation its all about stages

You have to stop worrying about bugging people. There simply is no way to practice approaching without approaching.
