If you're going to a club or some big social gathering with the intent to meet people, you really have to want to/be open to talking to people before you go. Thinking that going somewhere and people will start talking to you and asking you to hang out isn't likely going to happen. Especially if you don't know anyone there already.

If you want a more accepting/warm group of people, try church. A lot of people go there to make connections with like-minded people.

Edit: But do NOT go to a church just to hook up with women.

Nobody forced you to sit alone doing nothing, you are in a place where you are supposed to be social and have fun dancing, not sit around watching everyone else. You could have make casual compliments to people (both to men and women) in the venue, you could have dance, it was your choice to be there sitting alone waiting for what exactly?

If you are no fun then nobody is gonna approach you, if you are fun and the life of the party then girls will approach you.

Go take a course. Anything that "breaks the wall" and force you to interact with people.

Example:

Girls like dancing. Salsa lessons?

Get a couple of drinks in you and get out there and dance. I guarantee you that you’ll eventually run into some other friendly drunks on the dance floor

From what youve wrote, it sounds like you dont approach girls. You just sit by yourself and chode around.

You need to approach people if you want to meet people.

I am a 21-year-old virgin incel and a lifelong social reject. Do you think I care about "knowing my place" or "acting in character" at clubs and such? No, I "live large" regardless of how visible I am to the other men there or how weirded out the girls will be by some lunatic dancing alone, because I am far too jaded by my circumstances to possibly give a flying fuck about how the beta chumps and mogger Chads will perceive me or how much I will creep out the thots. Have more fun than anyone else in the club entirely on your own and you may find yourself suddenly become less invisible.

I made so many freidns by going alone at clubs and bars, you just have to actively pursue meeting people.

What you doing is comparable to growing muscles by just having a gym subscription.

I would highly recommend you start your PUA journey at a smaller venue like a sportsbar or hipster divebar and gain some experience.

I've been doing game for years AND was a nightclub and college bar bartender for over a decade and I STILL ain't great at dance club game. I perform much better in smaller settings.
