Tbh bro I wouldn’t use your friend as a example, since you were her friend for awhile those usually don’t end well as far as asking her out, but the way can become a lover boy is being comfortable with rejection.

What I mean by that is when you approach a girl and get her number or talking to her in person let it be known what your intentions are and don’t act all buddy buddy, if you want her in a way a friend shouldn’t want someone then build conversation that opens her mentally, with that you already different than the other guys she use to hearing.
