You have to have something they want. Good looks, muscles, money, etc. or a combo of some of those things to gain their initial attraction. Then I would say act like a gentlemen because they’re from a different generation. They don’t typically pick up on modern day humor and dialect.

If by “Lucky you” you meant she is old and it’s her lucky day that you laid your eyes on her, I think you should hangout with people, to socialize first.

If it’s a joke, I don’t think many would find it funny. I think you should play it off, like making a different joke about what you saw, in order to compliment her. Something like “You’re lucky you are born here in the US. It would be a shame if you have to cover that beautiful hair … something something.
