So I just started paramedic school, and so far I've had no issues making friends. During my fitness class, I met this beautiful girl who I can tell is attracted to me. I already got her number and we are partners in that class. The issue with her is that I'm having difficulty breaking past small talk with her. All we talk about is fitness and her job as a bartender, and while it was interesting at first, it's getting kinda boring. At first, I thought I was the problem, then I noticed she's actually really shy. During our lecture, I noticed she's the only one who hasn't really made any friends, other than me. When everyone is socializing before the lecture starts and during the break, she's just alone.
During our convos, she has shown signs that she's funny/witty and intelligent. I just really hate small talk and wanna start having a real convo with her. Since her and I are partners all year for this fitness class, I need our conversations to be more layered. It just feels like we haven't really broken the ice.
How can I transition our conversation into something more interesting?
Sidenote: Ik this sub is about dating, and while I do find her attractive, I really just wanna form a friendship before anything.
