Is a romantic connection in a couple of hours realistic?

I have had multiple dates where the was no second date cause there was no roommates connection.

I just don't understand how the expectation that there can be a romantic connection in a couple of hours realistic ?

If I'm behaving normally, getting to know the other person then how can there be a romantic connection?

It just means the person isn't attractive enough
