OK, I've only just started and at the moment I'm just focusing on making the most of opportunities that arise (no wingman and I'm a bit old for clubbing anyway).

A few weeks ago a girl on the bus kept doing the eye game (looking away every time I caught her). I noticed she had a badge for a nearby shop and called in there after work. I bought some aftershave that I didn't need and made sure she served me. When she asked me 'anything else' I said 'Yeah, your phone number please.'

She went red and said she couldn't do that. So I said 'Well at least let me give you mine'. I did, and left.

No call (I put this down to the fact that girls are too chicken to followup on things like this) and then this morning the girl was on the bus again.

So I waited until she got off (same stop as me) and approached her. I caught up with her by calling her name and asked her what time she started work, she said '9.00' I said 'me too, mind if I walk with you a bit?'. Her reply: 'Er no. Not today. Thankyou. No. Goodbye.'

So what went wrong? Do girls do the eye game thing when they're actually not interested at all, or did I put her off?

My instinctive explanation is that I appeared stalker-like by going to her place of work and by calling her by name. And by not taking the hint when she didn't call. But I'd like any feedback to help me improve my approach in future.
