So I was invited out with a friend and about 8 of his buddies who all work at the same place. I just know my buddy S and his sister J, who I am good friends with. It was a slow night over all but I took some major steps, had a couple setbacks - all in all, a good night to work on me.

So the first two hours were negligible. Just us 3 hanging for an hour at a deader than dead bar. Then we bounce to a different bar after his friends show. There is about 75 people and almost ALL are guys. I was not having fun, me and my buddy's sister are saying we need to bounce to the local beach bar which is always good. Before that, we head to the Irish pub and the fun begins.

We arrive, good crowd. Some HBs, mostly there with one other guy/obviously taken. S's coworkers all take car bombs, I decide to follow the advice of my friend J and get a drink called Chicks Dig It (not a big beer man). Let me go ahead and tell you, the most gay drink I have had in a while. And it was delicious as shit, fuck it. So we kick back for a while, pretty soon a couple girls who know a guy in our group strike up conversation and they separate into a 5set. I finally am here to fuck over my AA so it takes a minute, but I approach. I hesitate then finally basically use alpha body language to sink into the group quickly, between a girl and guy.

I come to see one is about a 7, the other a 6.5 (whose seems pleased to be around me). Not really what I go for, but fuck it-we shall have fun anyways. Within 2 minutes, unintentionally, I have just the two girls to myself. I shoot the BS with them, expand on interview questions as I described earlier today in a couple other posts requesting help. They somehow mention said beach bar we are planning on going to. I have already been kinoing the shit out of them, I instantly tell them to hold on while I grab my friend J (another girl) so we can all bounce at once because none of us were feeling the Irish gig.

It takes a little bit, J says she wants to wait for someone else in the group. The twoset of girls come and finds me in a minute and tells me to come with. I tell them I will catch up in a minute. I see a cute blonde 8 behind me and get eye contact, maybe a very subtle IoI. My issue with AA here was she was surrounded by friends against a wall, very hard to open her and I pussied on opening her male friends close to me. Even J (who is semi winging me, but not very well) said "You are cuter than both those guys. Get it." While I appreciate this because she is always brutally honest, I couldn't get there. Left to beach bar right after to avoid losing the other opportunity.

I immediately roll up to 6.5/7 when I get in, noting who is in the club. HBs here are much better, also many more males but whatever. The 6.5 buys me a drink where I had not so much as hinted at even wanting a drink (I was also driving so I took it very slow, still very sober but laughing a lot at this point). We chat a bit more, kino continues. I head to talk to some other friends who had arrived, and discover a couple of guys have taken the two girls to the dance floor where they were with one other person. Damn dead bars on Christmas break. This city has a population of 125000, and about 27000 of that are college kids - so nightlife is waning.

Anyways, I head up to dance with them because I don't give a shit and need to learn to dance with high energy/low outcome dependance. So these two guys are grinding the girls, who are facing each other and I am off to the side. Feeling slightly AFC, but trying to have as much fun as possible with it. It was at this point one of the girls commented directly on my tie, while she was dancing with this guy. Favorite item going out, no contest. About 3 minutes in, both girls kickoff the guys and tell me how turned off they were by the instant grinding upon meeting. Win for me, haha.

So we leave the floor out of boredom and they grab more drinks. As one girl I have seen is walking by, she makes eye contact and smiles are exchanged. On a second pass she is behind a guy, I lean out of my set and ask if she is with him. She gives m that kind-of "ohhhhh no no no no" look and says she isn't with him, smiling. I would have opened her right after, but she bailed with her friends within 30 seconds of that. Should have jumped on her right there, only a 7ish though so whatever. Still talked to her, which is good work for me.

Everything is going average now, the two set of girls are getting drunk and by now I am sure I am do not really wanna close either of them beyond number. My two friends decide they are close to ready to leave, so I peruse a little more. I see a table with a guy and three girls. One looks about 6, one is an 8 with extremely sexy black hair, and one looks about 55 years old. No joke. A beyond cougar mom?! Whatever. Anyways, the cute 8 gives me a slight smile and I throw the downright heavy eye contact with a shit eating grin, which she responds nicely too. It is ON. After J giving me a little boost and saying they wanted to stay a bit longer, I notice the older woman has left. I roll up to the table like I fucking own the place (I love this bar anyways so not a hard feeling to get) and open them.

I do not even remember exactly what I said, it was along the lines of "Hey guys, how is it going? My name MetaSnow, saw you guys chillin and figured I would come say hi. I am here with my friends, but they are all about to roll out and not being any fun." Conversation continues, got names etc. Find out the older one is indeed the 8's mom, but she isn't back yet. I shoot the shit very smoothly with them, then have the greatest line I have had in a while with good interrogation expansion. Note that this sounds very cold on her part in text, but her tonality and body language were very relaxed and she was smiling a lot.

And without missing a beat, I pull this shit out of nowhere- "That is awesome! Feel like you are gonna be a Dr. Brennan sometime?"

Instant laughs had all around. I haven't even seen the show Bones in a good 3 years. Good Guy Greg Brain, gives you obscure TV reference years later. Anyways, conversation dies off a tad and I'm blocking the mom's seat, so I give 8 more eye contact and tell her I have to drive my friends, but I might be back. She says they will be there. By the time we are leaving, I was gonna drop my number by the table ont he way out. They are all MIA when we get there a few minutes later, so I jot it on a coaster and leave it in the 8s spot. No fucks given, not sure if this is classified as needy behavior or not though. I would like - but do not expect- something to come of it.

Drove friends home, decent mix of fun and game mixed into a slow night on the town. I cannot wait for New Years. J invited me out with something like 15 girls she knows through a friend. Field reports will be had all weekend.

Lessons I learned -FINALLY getting over my AA a bit. I know I have a ways to go, but getting at LEAST 4 good IoIs without doing anything but smiling and existing felt real good. This will help a lot with confidence, but not in direct cold approach. Also, unintentionally isolating the two set was quite nice.
-I am convinced if I wanted to push the 6.5, I could have easily k closed and maybe f closed. Anyone else have prohibitively high standards, so much so that it affects your approach rate? -Conversation seems to go in waves for me, very good to kind of empty, then very good again. This is something I think will improve with more approaches, but good to be aware of.
-Even though I did way more approach than usual here, tonight was another perfect example of always be escalating and closing. I tried betting the smart 8 would be there when I returned, but she was not. Gentleman, the number of times I have been ousted of my own fault by mere seconds is not even funny. Go after that shit, and go hard. -What do you guys think about the number drop? I kind of feel like if it works, cool. If not, no big deal. I ejected so it's my fault, gotta close faster next time. It does feel slightly AFC, though I did have a legitimate reason to bail. EDIT:proofreading.
