Removing most of the contacts from Facebook?

IMO the more friends, the better. Regardless of how you feel about it, regardless of if it ever gets brought up, and regardless of how each individual girl feels about it, it's generally a form of social proof- which means most girls, on some level, are gonna make note of it (for some it won't mean much at all, for others it might be pretty important).

And it's not necessarily "important" that you have a lot of facebook friends, it's just that the opposite (few facebook friends) will look questionable- especially if you're adding girls to facebook when you meet them. I'm just a guy, but I know for damn sure if you met me once and added me to facebook, I'd see that you had 30 friends and wonder what the hell was going on. I'd naturally just assume you were desperate to make friends.

And just an anecdotal observation: the more "popular/cool" you are, the more friends you tend to have- I know a few guys who are exceptions to that, but 99% follow that general formula.

About your question on calibration: It's not something you should bring up with girls. Just add em on facebook and let em think whatever they want. That's what it means to have a strong frame. The "calibration" part is making sure she sees your 1000 facebook friends- it's just a social thing. And you can feel free to be a rebel with it if you want (it won't even matter in a whole bunch of situations), I just wouldn't recommend it.

If you're worried about it you can tweak facebooks privacy settings not to show your contact to anyone. No idea how that comes across but you can always claim that youre privacy aware

There was a study released a couple years ago that looked into this very subject. Participants rated profiles with too few or too many friends as less attractive than otherwise identical profiles.

I only keep/add people I have regular contact with. My current number is at like 90 or something. Every few months I go through and delete people I haven't talked to in a while. Only exception are family members.

I also never add anyone who's got over 500+ friends. I find it ridiculous, there is no way they even know a fraction of those people. It would take extensive hanging out in person for me to add someone like that.

But that's just me, I keep my shit private.

What I do is, I delete everyone I don't hang out with, and only leave the people I see at least once a month. Currently I have about 230 contacts.

Yes, calibration is key.

But you should really make an effort to make more than 30 friends. Facebook should be an extension of your ACTUAL social network (not the online one) not a replacement for one. Get social and start making friends. Game can help you make friends with both guys and girls and you can never be friendly with too many people. When you show up somewhere and you know everyone's name... Huge DHV.

IMO it shows insecurity if you're worried about such fine details of your Fb account and how girls are going to see it. I know this from experience.
