Saturday night I went to a local restaurant. I had made a reservation for 10, but 2 people ended up not showing. So I went up to talk to Alli, the hostess with whom I am rather flirty, both to just mess with her a bit and tell her they can take the seats if they want them. As I walk up a girl is asking how long for a table of 2. Alli says 45 minutes, because they’re fucking busy. It’s already 9 o’clock but the crowd is still bumping. So I look over and without even really seeing the girl say “why don’t you just join us?” I explain to her we’re down 2 people, so what the fuck, why not? Alli jumps in saying what a great guy I am. Thanks Alli! Love you.

Now at this point I haven’t even really glanced the girl over. I know she’s tiny and put together, but I saw her mainly out of my peripheral vision. Turns out she’s hot. Like, seriously hot. Like at least a 9. Dolled up I’d go ahead and call her a 10. She’s got this whole sexy librarian thing going on, and girls like that seem to love me. Numerous people came up to us later, thinking we were a couple, and told us how cute we were. I agree.

She’s waiting on her “mentor” which I gather pretty quickly is a dude. I’m worried that the guy is going to cockblock me, because she’s hot and what straight dude wouldn’t? But I get a good 20 minutes of decent warm-up conversation in before he gets there.

Anyway, guy shows up and I immediately connect with him. He’s the kind of guy I could easily be friends with. Also, he’s got sort of a woman, so he’s definitely not cock-blocking. If anything I think the guy helped me because he liked me. He at least didn’t even try to stop her from leaving with me. Thanks bro!

So it’s on. We eat dinner and the girl gets my number in the smoothest way I’ve ever seen. I go to take a picture of some food, and she says “you’re doing it wrong.” She takes a phenomenal photo of it with her iPhone, busts open text messaging to send it to me, and has me put my number in. How brilliant! I’m using that.

While we’re there, the social proof keeps rolling as everyone in the place comes over and shakes my hand. Lyndsay, a super-hot bartender who has huge tits showing because it’s a big night, comes and hugs me.

After dinner I invite them both to a local bar called Frank’s. The girl, let’s call her Allison, agrees to come along. The mentor guy says he has to take dessert to the girl he’s got a thing going with (it’s complicated) but might meet up later. So Allison walks out with us and the valet opens both my driver’s and passenger’s door. Inadvertent bro move right there. She says “Am I riding with you?” I say sure and tip the valet a little extra. I then tease her on the way there about getting into cars with strangers, which I think was a horrible move but I play it off well saying I’m the one who should be worried, feeling her biceps, and recover quickly. We get to Frank’s and I’m still killing. The conversation is even better. We like basically 100% of the same TV shows. An ex-bartender we’ll call Barb from said restaurant who is super-hot and used to want to fuck me shows up, stops and talks to us for a bit, says how great I am and how cute we are together. Thanks sister! More social proof.

I’ve got my hands kinda all over the girl all night. Resting one on her legs and and one on her back. No resistance ever. She’s feeling it and seems to even lean in sometimes. Eventually I go for the kiss and get a little. Later I go for a second and get rejected. I’m kind of surprised because she’s clearly interested. I said something like “shot down!” half-jokingly, figuring maybe she’s just not into public makeouts. She lays it on me that she just got dumped by her fiancé a couple weeks ago. Her mentor came in town just to make sure she’s ok. All of her friends and family are worried about her. She’s been going through some serious shit. Ugh. We talk a bit more about relationships. She says something to the effect of I’m a sign from the universe that things are going to be ok and calls me amazing. Multiple times. I keep pointing out that what are the odds she just happened to need a table as I was going to the hostess stand to say we had extra seats.

I tried to talk her into coming to my house for a drink. No dice, but lots of smiles. So I drove her back to her car. I then offered to make her a drink at my house if she wanted to follow me over so she wouldn’t feel stuck. She sees the writing on the wall and considers it for a bit. She’s close but says “one drink will lead to two and then…” and comes to no eventually. I’m ok with it. I try to sell her by promising to cut her off at one but she isn’t dumb and knows the game. Then she says “sorry for rejecting your two kisses” and makes up for it by laying one on me. So at least I got a brief in-car make out session. She asks “does this count as date 1?” I said yes because maybe she’s the kind of girl who doesn’t sleep with a guy until date 3 or some such rule and hey, let’s burn through them ASAP.

So that’s where I’m at now. That night we exchanged a few texts and she thanks me and says I made her night. The next day we traded a few texts. I got responses but nothing super enthusiastic.

I’m a little worried here that her recent breakup is going to prevent anything from happening. She definitely liked me it seemed. But was cagey that night when I said I hoped to see her again.

So what should I do now? Just text her funny stuff for a bit? Go straight for a date? Give it a week? I’m a bit lost here.

TLDR: Met a girl, hit it off Saturday. Almost got her to go home. She’s broken up about a breakup. Not sure what the next play is.
