I ask this question because I am at a bit of a loss as to what i'm doing wrong recently. My approaches seem to be going well, building attraction. They give me solid eye contact and the vibe is really good, recently I have been trying to close via Insta-dates or taking her back to my place. What I have discovered is that when I get their number I wait a day, or so and then text them (working on my neediness by waiting) and set up the actual date. Everything goes well, then there will be a pause in her texting. Either that night, or a day later she will message me with something along the lines of the following (this is the most recent response I got with some redacts):

"Hey! This is awkward and it's my fault, so there isn't a misunderstanding down the road I have a boyfriend but i am really interested in getting lunch as friends. I got caught up in how exciting our conversation was and to chat with someone super awesome. I didn't mean to come off as flirty."

There was more but that is the gist of it. I get either this kind of message or something similar. Just wondering if my seductions are incomplete? Or are they really just caught up in the moment when I approach them? I say this happens maybe 4 times out of 10. The other 6 times I actually land the date. Does anyone know what's going on?
