This is a crappy field report. I had a crappy day, and a crappy evening with crappy results. But I thought it was instructive, or I wouldn't write it up.

Today sucked. I felt like shit all day. I still haven't quite recovered from that trip to the hospital last week. I woke up at about 9:45, felt listless, and went back to bed with my laptop to read a PDF of RooshV's "Bang" from cover to cover. I kind of fell asleep and woke up and fell asleep again repeatedly while reading it, so it sort of flowed in and out of my conscious and subconscious. I heard a few people recommend the book highly, it seemed rather basic to me but had a few excellent points that I'll integrate into my game.

But mostly I was feeling like crap today because I'm broke. I got an email from the landlord asking if it was true, she heard I didn't pay my July rent and now August is due. I emailed her back and essentially said, "Yes, I didn't pay my rent." Crap. Then I checked my bank account, I have about $50 to my name, after paying that stupid traffic ticket and license fees. So now I'm trying to economize and wait until my food stamps get authorized and my Federal unemployment extension arrives at the start of next week. Oh man am so I broke. And I'm putting more effort into these field reports than I am into looking for a job. I will have to prioritize. And yet, I still feel like the game is a higher priority than other things. I know homeless people that are getting more sex than me, so I suppose if I got evicted, that's not quite fatal to the game. Well anyway, I suppose the game is to change my life in all areas. An improved attitude and improved confidence will win me a job, right?

So I was bumming around today I got a private message from a sedditor, he referred to my previous FR about how I was an astrologer and asked me what is up with the stars, he's seeing more action with HBs in just the last few days than usual. I gave him a quick astrological situation report (short version: it's weird out there). And then I figured, maybe I should go check it out myself tonight. Venus and Mars are about to conjunct, that means lots of sexual energy bouncing around. But it's only Tuesday, the bars are likely to be slow. Then I thought of some quip in RooshV's book, I may not even remember it correctly, but I think he said that the sooner you start thinking of the game as a job, the sooner you start getting results. Yeah, you don't want to get up and go to work every day but you do it. So you have to put in the hours doing your sarging in order to get the results. Yeah, the results were likely to suck on a Tuesday, but what the hell, it's a job, go get the fuck out of the house and do your job. Even if the results are bad, it's a learning experience.

I decided to clean up, take a shower, and wear a midrange wardrobe. I put on some vintage black Girbaud jeans (not the new hiphop baggy style, old vintage cowboy cut) and my nice dark gray Kenneth Cole shirt, plus my Doc Marten's shoes. I decided I got a better response wearing long pants last time, as opposed to my slobby Gap khaki shorts and a nice shirt. And then when I went outside, it was just fucking oppressive heat and humidity, it's 9:30 PM and it's 86 degrees and 95% humidity. I almost went back inside.

Mostly I went out because I'm out of cigarettes. So at 9:30 I hit downtown and it is dead. I'm headed to the coffee and tobacco place, maybe Coffee Girl will be there, probably not. But I walked in and there she is, dressed up, wearing a low slung skirt, weird big earrings made of feathers, and a top that exposes her midriff.

Me: Hey, you're all dressed up. [Notice I did NOT say "you look nice." That would be supplicating.]

CG: I'm going out on a date after work.

Me: [Ignoring that remark] Give me a pack of 555's, okay?

CG: [Grabs them] I don't know how much these cost.

Me: I paid $7.29 a couple of days ago. [shit I can't afford this]

Coffee girl rings them up at $7.00 even, giving me a little break. Yeah, she likes me.

Me: [In a low, conspiratorial voice] And I'm going to hand roll a couple of smokes and you're going to look the other way, right? [cadging a dollar worth of free smokes]

CG: I didn't see a thing.

So I'm sitting at the counter rolling a couple of smokes, the place is empty except for two people, one of them is another worker who is there to help train CG and back her up. Suddenly the music stops playing and CG can't get the stereo to play another CD. The other guy puts on some folk music and banjo shit, this seems to annoy CG terribly. CG is up by the counter, frantically texting back and forth. She is grumpy, and explains to me..

CG: [waving her phone] I'm having an argument with my sister AND my boyfriend.

Me: Well that's the nice thing about electronic communications, you don't have to answer them right away.

CG: Yes you do, if you're with someone.

Now here's where I decided to implement some of RooshV's strategies. He says never let a girl talk to you about her relationship problems, past or present. When you listen to her problems, you become associated with the problem. You're trying to seduce her, not become her girlfriend. You don't want to be a shoulder to cry on. This is the fast route to the LJBF zone. I'm probably there already. But I'll try to use Sinn's sexual framing techniques to deflect that. She comes over and sits by me on the customer side of the table and starts drinking an energy drink. So I dive in with a bullshit fantasy.

Me: [quick kino, arm on her bare shoulder] I thought you dressed up just for me. Have you forgotten? I have my jet fueled up and sitting on the tarmac waiting for us, and we have reservations at La Grenouille in New York at midnight. But you have made other plans. I am disappointed in you.

She smiles and her eyes light up, but a customer comes to the counter and she is diverted back to work. It is busy occasionally, she intermittently goes to the register and then talks to me. She is complaining to me about her boyfriend. Oh no, I am becoming her shoulder to cry on. We chat a bit about random things, I learn a few things, like she is 26, was married and has a kid. It seems like she is qualifying herself to me. But I am constantly trying to get out of responding to her bitching without seeming too unsympathetic. Now I know you're not supposed to be negative about a girl's boyfriend, that is beta behavior, but it seems like the thing to do here..
