These girls are usually very snobbish and you need to do your research if you want to seduce them with music knowledge.

Just be confident in who you are and like ThrowawayPUA says, don't worry about the age difference. Don't try to get into their scene unless you have some real experience/knowledge about it, they will most likely get turned off at your superficial attempts to understand it and you're more likely to impress them with just being confident in what you like, even if they give you shit for your philistine music tastes.

you sound like you're overthinking it. First of all between 25 [edit: AND 18] theres not that much difference except they'll be really immature at your interactions. Second theres absolutely no problem approaching them, try to minimize the canned question approach. Best use something situational, also use a comment not a question. You ask a question - she answers with a curt 'no' and you got nothin. Assess the situation and make a comment - if its something a bit funny sarcastic or funny the better. But can be straight forward too, something about the environment is best, but if you got nothing go with you look like you're from Michigan, when she says no im from Kansas, you can tell her your Kansas story... etc

First off: stop thinking so much.

Just start off with something manly, nonflattering and chill. Try "sup?"

Discuss class or music. Then if she's warm and friendly, reward her with a compliment "i like your style, not many can pull it off." tell her a story about how you got kicked out of a concert one time because your buddy decides to pour a drink all over this girl in front of him, and it was just before the headliner, so you decided to get drunk in the parking lot and had a better time out there instead because you could still hear the artist.

Play it by ear from here on out, but I would venture to guess she's probably actually pretty friendly. Most girls just like that style but are really sweet.

Hilarious, since these sorts of people are generally my friends.

Age difference is not much of an obstacle. Most of my more hipster or more scene sort of friends are a pretty huge age range, from 18-40 or so, and I've seen some pretty big age differences between couples. It's more a willingness to live a certain lifestyle more than anything, one where you're going out a lot and involved in certain things. There's definitely a guard up for the most part. But these are just normal, varied ass people.

Just imagine it this way. If you played in a kickball league, wouldn't it be unusually to barge in and hit on the girls in the softball league? The guys in the softball league would know them better, and you've got nothing to start on. So you can either join the softball league, or find something that you do have in common, and start talking with them from there.
