Not going to the conference was a big mistake on your part. Even though she said that you didn't need to go, you should have gone. She insisted that you didn't have to attend because she didn't want you to feel obligated...she wanted you to want to go to the conference. I'm not surprised that it takes her a long time to reply to your messages. You have shown her that she isn't a priority in your eyes. Why should she go out of her way to reply to you in a timely manner? The more you try and be funny the more you may come across as an asshole, cause she can probably tell that you are just playing her.
If its just about getting laid, than get off line and go meet random chicks. If its about developing a relationship, start making the girl feel like she is a priority.
Whatever your objective, do your homework. There are some great books out there. READ THEM!

Dude read basics of seduction first, then go on this date and THEN ask for feedback. OH and one of many things I learned here is that you can't build attraction online, so yeah you must go on this date first.

Dude how do you expect us to help you? We know nothing about this girl, or her interests, we don't know how you behave or how you act.

It already seems like you got a sympathy date, to dinner and a movie no less (probably the most boring, generic date possible) and you are upset that she doesn't respond to your messages. (insecure are we? / she probably is interested in you)

We can't teach you how to be funny, you've already flaked on her before and it sounds like you have no knowledge on how to game a girl.

Seduction is not specialized, we cannot teach you how to pick up one specific girl. In fact we advise against it. You already have stacked the odds against yourself and my advice would be to go in there and just practice material on her for the next girl you come across. It sounds to me like you aren't going to get this one, but perhaps she can prepare you for the next girl.

Go in there, run your game, take notes of what worked and what didn't work and start improving your personality.

Here's a starting point: when she shows up for the dinner date say there's been a change in plans and ask her to go shopping with you and maybe catch a snack on the way. Take her to a store that sells things you are really passionate about and tell her why.

This probably won't work, but it will be more interesting than sitting around eating.

Also, do you know any parlor tricks? Origami, sleight of hand, juggling, beatbox? Or get her to sing a Christmas carol with you. If she won't, sing it by yourself. Try some random stuff on her and make note of how she reacts.

Where did you meet her online? Facebook or a dating site?

If you met her on Facebook and she invited you to a conference, it sounds like she's more interesting in networking than dating. I don't think skipping the conference is necesarily a bad thing, if she is otherwise interested in you. But it doesn't look like she is.

You've asked her out repeatedly and she finally said yes. Sounds very much like a sympathy date.

The only way to possibly salvage this is to do what Barney is saying. Call an audible at the line and change the date.

Get a drink first, then bounce from the bar to somewhere you can walk, maybe Christmas light display downtown somewhere? Then do dinner (because you already promised dinner). Stay high energy.
