After reading and sometimes participating in seddit, I feel that there's not a lot of good information for people like me, who are shy/introverted and struggle to even approach a girl. That's why I'm going to post some stories and some lessons I've learned to try to kick start those in my position.
Whether you're looking just for some sexual attention, or you're looking to find someone to have a relationship with, these stories and lessons are more 'universal'.
I hope this can be of use to others.
First lesson: fuck the PUA material. (Most of it, at least).
I know this will heavily be attacked on, considering this subreddit IS for seduction, but for people like me, it will not help you at all. That does have exceptions though, and I would suggest listening to David Wygant's two MP3s that pretty much detail what I'm going to sum up to you below.
Here's why I say 'fuck the PUA material', though - a lot of it is 'scripted'. It outlines what you should start with, how you progress, almost like a step-by-step 'guide' as to how to pick up women. No. This is not for you. Life doesn't work that way anyway - I find being more spontaneous and 'on your feet' is much better. You'll more than likely feel nervous, uncomfortable even - and you may forget the 'steps' you need to follow. Instead, learn some basic ideas such as kino and escalation - all you need to know is what they are and when to apply it - and you'll be in much better shape, and you have a lesser chance of forgetting in an actual situation.
Second lesson: what the fuck are you waiting for?
Yeah, seriously. I know, trust me, read my past posts and you'll know that I know. Approaching women is hard for guys like us, and it'll be a long (emphasis on long) time before it gets easier. But what the fuck are you waiting for?
Think to yourself, right now - why am I so afraid? The answer I always seem to get is 'rejection'. And this leads into story time, which I think is where I get my fear from:
Back in middle school, when puppy love was the new sliced bread, I used to wait at a bus stop in the mornings to go to school. There was this really attractive girl who I used to stand with and talk to, and we got to know each other fairly well. I kind of wanted to ask her out, though, but I couldn't really bring myself to do it. Not that I was afraid of rejection, but I was damn nervous. One day, I think to myself, 'today's the day. I'm going to ask her out, no matter what.' So I get to the bus stop, wait for her, as always, and she walks down and starts to talk to me. When there's a break in the conversation, I blurt out "wouldyouliketogooutwithme?" She looks at me for a minute, or what felt like one, then starts to laugh. Right in my face. Then she walks up to a group of guys and tells them that I - that really ugly guy - asked her out, and they all pointed and laughed at me.
Yep. That's why I'm so afraid of rejection, because I always think that something like that could happen again. Now, here's a story from just a few days ago, similarly, of me asking a girl out:
I'm a college student, and for an elective course I chose to take one online. Thanks to the lousy professor, we somehow had to work in groups. I was partnered up with a girl, someone I didn't know, and we ended up working together pretty well. A few days ago we find out we're at the same campus and decide to meet in person to work on the project. We set a time and place, and I arrive first - having no idea what she looks like. After about 20 minutes of waiting (I arrived too early), someone taps me on the shoulder and says, 'hey, you [redacted]?' I turn around, and she has to be an HB8, if not a 9. She's really hot. 'Yeah,' I say, and she quickly fires off, 'hey, I'm [redacted], how's it going?' So we go into the library, and work, and I really want to ask her out, but she has to leave for class and I don't get a good opportunity to get a number or anything. I don't know what to do, so I do what I can think of, and ask seddit. The best answer (I thought) was the most obvious one - e-mail her and ask her out for coffee or something. So I do that, and wait all day awaiting a response. Finally, my e-mail shows a new message and I look at it. The first paragraph is project talk, and the second...she has a boyfriend, and he wouldn't like that she was going for coffee with someone else. But it's not awkward, and she didn't make fun of me (I thought). And as it turns out, we worked on the rest of the project online and she even told me that she really liked working with me!
No severe rejection, no insulting. Everything I was afraid of, didn't happen.
So, back to the beginning: what the fuck are you waiting for?
