Tell a girl you like her, then ask her out, she says she likes someone else. What now?

So you tell this girl you like her, online. Then you text her asking her out sometime, at 2 AM one night... She says that she likes someone else at the moment, and doesn't want to lead you on right now.

You still like this girl, is there a way to salvage this situation?

Edit: I do understand this is a dire situation, but I'm asking if there is actually a way to fix it. Rather than if what was done was wrong.
