Dude...we're seeing less activity now than when there were like 6,000 users too.

It's because of the mixed messages that are being sent about what this place is for. The overwhelming majority of those 20,000 people are here because they have questions, not because they're experts. People with questions are sent elsewhere, to a place with 5% as many people.

If you want user activity to reflect the size of the community, axe askseddit, re-welcome questions, and let reddit's proven system bubble the topics the community finds interesting to the top.
