I think what I find most amazing is that it took her that long to ask you where you're from. That seems so atypical of interactions with strangers in Japan.

Before you approached her, had you two made eye contact or did you just surprise her? Was there anything about her that made you think she would be more interested in a daygame snl?

Your words are innocuous, so there's nothing verbal for her to object to or feel uncomfortable about. This meant you had to rely on body language The switch to talking about "we" seems important.

I've always wondered: Do you think the culture difference has any effect on your success or approach? You certainly give us/me amazing advice, but I have to wonder if your FRs apply to me: An american in america.

Tonight I was in a bar surrounded by my friends and across from the table was 2 females I didn't know. I tried talking to one of them and she was replying but the conversation was totally forced. I couldn't think of anything to talk about and we got into this shitty convo (my fault) about where she came from and how the traffic sucks. I stopped because it wasn't interesting to either one of us. Should I have talked to her until the awkward phase ended?
