In a follow up to a previous FR, I sent this text to the number I got that night:

Hey, some dorky girl from <some bar> gave me her number Thursday night. Should I text her?

As mentioned in the FR, I got that idea from a post about texting a girl when she doesn't get your number.

Now, after reading "The Ultimate Texting Guide", one of the tips mentioned for the initial text was to include your name at the end of the text if she didn't have your number. In my case, I didn't give her my number (called it after she gave it to me, but don't think it went through so I don't think she ever got my number) but I did mention my area code. I thought about it and decided I was going to deliberately ignore this tip to test the girl.

About 10 min later, the number responds: "Who is this ???"

At that point I'm like dammit, guess the book was right this time. Or one of my underlying suspicions was that it was a fake/wrong number. I checked online and it seemed to be a valid number and the area code corresponded to where she said she's from. I think about it and I'm like, "I could put my tail between my legs and flat out say my name, or I could just go with this and see what happens". I decide on the latter since, well where's the fun in the first one?

I later respond

You forgot already? Well I guess it didn't matter then :)

At the time I thought it was a playful neg, and if this was the right number she would've remembered something about going out Thursday night unless she was totally trashed, which I honestly doubt.

The following text I get almost immediately after says "I think you got the wrong number". Oops. Well, either the girl deliberately gave me a wrong number (or alcohol contributed to wrong entering/mishearing/etc.), or this number is correct and she doesn't seem to be interested and doesn't have the courage to flat out say not interested or whatever, or this is her own twisted shit test. No way to figure out for sure and I'd rather not risk any ramifications should my first suspicion turn out to be true, so I stop all together (although I did have a few witty responses such as "Cool, I've been trying to get a wrong number for a while but girls just keep giving me their real numbers!").

Not what I was hoping for, but it was fun dancing while it lasted and I enjoyed the practice I got. On the downside, my legs are still sore as heck from dancing (maybe I'm ridiculously out of shape from not working out in a while). Oh well, what do you think?
