I'm going to list out some facts about myself, in the context of relationships (maybe verbose), please read / assess and let me know where I seem to screw it all up. This is an extremely long writeup, but please, it's my life and I need help!
Please read the end of the second oldest comment for TLDR;
Physical stuff :
31 year old male, 5' 10" , 160 pounds, athletic build, I've a french beard. very casual dresser, most of the time in a Plain TShirt and cargoes, always wear ankle length boots. I have a high pitched voice ( My voice never broke)
Professional : Been a programmer since I was 8, been paid for it well since I was about 23. Been in one job initially, freelancing for the past 6 years, now going to join a startup fulltime next month. I've bought 90% of what I own, Two motorbikes, all my stuff. I even bought a house. I'm perhaps the highest earner amongst all my relatives. Not a lavish lifestyle or a huge income by US standards (about 1.5 grand $ a month) , but the IT industry pays well here in comparision to most jobs, so it is quite a good amount.
Extra-curricullar stuff - I do yoga, MMA training thrice a week, le parkour, ride a motorbike, I am an expert woodworker and general DIY guy, I do all (and I mean all) my bike mechanicking myself, I like to build and fix stuff. I'm also an amateur writer, I write on everything2.com and have written some decent fiction and stuff.
Culture stuff: Indian (I can hear the groans already, but please read on) - brought up in a conservative culture, never dated anyone in my youth, never had a girlfriend or anything, until my mid-twenties.
Family : I stay with my mom (it's a cultural thing, you'd understand if you were Asian). Two siblings, eldest is a sister she is a professor, Middle is a brother, he teaches design and shop skills in a school. I'm the youngest. They live in different towns. I'm very close to my brother, we share all our interestests in common, we tend to complete each others sentences and I look up to him a lot in many ways. I have loads of friends, maybe about 10 or 12 who I can call really good friends and perhaps 3 who would go to pretty extreme lengths if I were in trouble (they have done in the past). I'm generally looked as being the "guy you can count on for anything whether it's driving you back from the other end of town, or lending you a spot of cash pronto". I find it hard to refuse to help someone when they ask.
Relationship shyte : My first "relationship" (hardly that) was this girl who said she had a crush on me, just before I moved out of town when I was 24. We used to meet and talk stuff and after I moved, we kept in touch online and when it came to the point where her folks would notice that she was interested in someone, she cut off contact - super conservative parents, so I can't blame her - not that we ever did anything other than talk!
Then I met an east european girl online. We were kind of infatuated after a few months and we decided (like idiots) that we were meant to be and all that romantic crap. I turned my life upside down, sold my house and went through all kinds of hoops to get to her (it's an uphill task to emigrate or even travel out of India). Finally I ended up married to her (we married in a neutral country to avoid visa issues), living in this weird East european country, she brought home the bacon, and I did my freelance work, and all seemed perfect, except I hated living there after about a year and a half I could stand it no more. She could not conceive of living here or I there any longer, so we broke up and divorced (after 2 years of marriage). I had a very strong feeling of love towards her, very deep emotional bonds, but physical chemistry was so so (she seemed in some ways even more conservative than me - she was actually a virgin when we married and that's kinda strange even in East Europe - I have an excuse I'm Indian and 35 year old virgin guys are a dime a dozen here).
After I got back to India, I started doing all this MMA and fitness stuff, came out of my geeky shell and started socializing, I made tons of friends, hit some clubs, sang karaoke, actually went and asked girls out directly (something not often seen here). I had a huge self esteem boost, I even gave a entreprenurial speech at a college. I met many girls, but never got beyond the "Let's meet over coffee" stage, either they didn't seem interesting to me or they never followed up the initial date.
I was on all the dating sites too - You name it and I have a profile there... I've messaged maybe 300 girls who I found interesting, no cut and paste - Always something witty or carefully written - Hardly any did respond - with the aim of research I made a girls profile on match.com just to see how the competition was, and it sucked - all kinds of creeps with explicit but ungrammatical and unimaginative advances. So I put it down to the culture thing, Indian girls are nuts! Maybe I'm wrong!
Anyway, one girl from Arizona, US, contacted me out of the blue, we made a good connection online, she had some strange attraction and obsession with India (she was buddhist and all) and somehow thought maybe I was some turning point in her life and a good reason to think about coming here. I fell for her instantly (I fall easily for someone I admire). She planned to visit and I'd show her around. I flew to the capital, where she arrived and we met, I was really on cloud 9 that week. I made absolutely no physical advances to her (idiot!). I actually watched over her sleep because she felt safer with me around as she napped. I took her around, shopping, we hit the museums, the forts, even the Taj mahal, it was super fun, I'd never felt happier. On the last day, I wussed out, and kinda broke down to her, about how wonderful our time had been and how I'd miss her and who knows when we would ever meet again(And this was despite the fact that I'd not even kissed her). I know for a fact that she had initially considered a move to india, because she'd this checklist with all points about what it involved to live here permanently. Anyway, she flew back, and over time started tapering off contact, no replies to mails, no "Likes" on FB, no calls. Eventually she writes a mail saying she had gotten involved with a guy who gave her multiple STDs and that's why she'd been aloof. For a couple of weeks she did keep up random conversation. Then once again silence _ so i write this dumb needy mail about how much I loved her and why did she turn cold - She replies (and I quote the relevant part) - "I wanted a more alpha male kinda vibe, I couldn't feel that spark, you can only be a friend to me". This led to more desperate neediness on my part - I got a rare book (that she'd mentioned) for her and got it . delivered to her. I sent her flowers on her birthday. I was about to spend money on a sky-sign or sing-a-gram or something equally stupid. Classic tale, she friend zoned me so bad, I think she doesn't even consider me friends any more.
It took me several months to get a grip on myself... Then there was this girl in my MMA class, lets call her Q, a very good friend, only problem she was 10 years younger than me, I dared not let myself fall for her. Again like an idiot I worshipped her secretly, she admired me as a kinda mentor, I'd help her with her doubts in her physics and programming stuff in college, we'd go running together, I let her ride my motorbike, because her dad would let her ride unless he was on pillion. Of course, she'd "Like" all my FB statuses and comment on anything I said there, she'd SMS me at unearthly hours asking obscure questions about any damn thing under the sun. At one point I used to get like 60 to 100 sms's a day from her, long conversations carried out over hours.Not that I minded that, but I never dared to show that I had any feelings for her. I kept myself friend zoned out of fear for our age difference.
