I had almost the exact same experience as you, except it was this past semester. Saw a really cute girl in my small french class, and wanted to see if my game was good enough to land an hb8.5.

I asked her out, in simple french. We went to lunch, and there I could hit on her in English, which was much easier. Ask her to study with you during lunch. Our 2nd study session together, I f-closed at my place. Then we fucked the entire weekend.

Long story short, we ended up dating, but it was tough trying to study and not fuck ;)

Stop asking specifics about what to ask and do, and just be in the moment. If you're escalating and it's going well, you'll KNOW when to take it further.

If she says "oui", name a place, and you're set for an English date later.

She's your classmate in a small class, so you don't have to do anything fancy. You see her regularly and it's normal for you to strike up a conversation with her.

You could stay in French mode and then ask her out to lunch. This might be fun because it's almost like you two are role-playing - both trying to speak French but somewhat struggling. So the conversation in itself becomes playful (how can it be taken seriously?)

Alternatively, you can just ask her to study together. Study dates are always great.

Or, you can just catch her after class and talk to her in English about the class. End it by asking to study for the upcoming quiz or something.

I don't know if you're looking for anything fancy, but I don't think it should be too hard to get to hang out with someone who's in your class.
