Hey all,
I just wanted to chime in and say that the one thing that really made a difference for me in all of this - in seduction, my hobbies, life in general - was learning that it's okay to fail.
I grew up in a very strict household that was supportive, but had ingrained in me one very bad flaw that led to a lot of depression.
I was groomed from birth never to fail in school.
That kind of mentality didn't just stay in academics, though. It bled into every part of my life. Especially since, deep down, I'm a competitive person.
My sense of worth became dependent on how I did versus how others were doing. When I met people who were "competition," I either had to give up right away before I "failed" or I had to beat them.
The only thing holding me up and balancing me out at that point was the support of my friends and my older brother, who managed to peer pressure me into a lot of things that were good for me, like sports and junk. If I didn't have sports in high school, I'd have gone insane, because there were kids there who were just plain smarter, and worked harder than I did. There was no way for me to "win." For some reason, sports gave me this Zen feeling where, even if I didn't reach my goal one day, it motivated me more to work harder instead of giving up.
But outside of that, I started finding reasons not to try things. This got even worse in college, when I started having trouble in the one thing I was really good at: school.
I don't know when exactly I turned the corner. It wasn't an epiphany like you see in the movies. It wasn't one event, or even ten, that made me realize how miserable you will be when you compare yourself to everyone.
But, at some point, I looked at all the failures in my life, and realized that I'm still doing alright.
... and what's more, I can do even better tomorrow.
And really, who cares, anymore, whether I'm "doing better" than this guy or that guy?
I just need to do well enough for myself.
As this applies to seduction, the number one reason behind all failed approaches is fear of failure.
Get rid of your fear of failure. That shit is toxic, and I carried it around for at least 18 years. You'll never get anywhere unless you're willing to get in the mud and figure things out.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
