I saw a post earlier this summer about a PUA who used gay guys to help build attraction with straight girls in gay clubs. I want to share the success I've had with pick up since became friends with a gay friend of mine. It has been an eye opening experience into women and how they view men and sex. This is all my opinion from what I have experienced.
Having just graduated from college, I felt the need to rebuild my friend base this summer. I went to a college in the city I still I live in and I've noticed a stigma of alumni going to college parties. I started going to bars more frequently and meeting new people, had a few good K+F closes, generally having a good time. One night I couldn't find any one to go out with me so I solo'd. It was literally my first time soloing. After a few bars I walked into one where I knew some people. I started opening sets on some of the mutual friends that I didn't know. I ended up getting into a conversation with the "gay friend" of the group of girls. He was talking to me about the same frustration, having graduated college and having the need to make new friends because his had left. I'm not going to lie, when I saw that post about using gay guys to help you with pick up, I was a little curious. At the time I saw it as a novelty, like girls who have "a gay friend". We made plans to hang out the next day, drinking beer by the pool. When hanging out he was complaining about not having anyone to go out with. It was perfect, I had my gay wingman.
Since then, him I go out at least once a week. It's amazing the different reactions I've had since. I have found that to a lot of women, having a strong platonic relationship with a gay guy provides a lot of social proof that the straight guy is not only tolerant but secure with his sexuality. Though interacting with him and girls that are friends with him I have seen another side of women. Women seem to be incredibly candid with their gay friends. I've heard and been involved with conversations that sound like a girls locker room. The one thing that I taken away from listen to girls sexual problems on a regular basis is some thing that has been reiterated on seddit but is the key to hooking up and moving past the talking stage. All girls want sex, they just don't want to be a slut. A lot of people, especially new guys, see women as something to put their dick in, not another human with sexual needs.
Not to mention he has directly gotten my laid. It's not like he took her clothes off or anything. I have doubled my life time number of hookups this summer. He has help me bring girls to the point where I would be stupid not to go for the close. One is last weekend when a girl friend of his came to town. We had met once before but not hooked up. This time it was on. He has an extra bedroom and me and this girl just went at it all weekend. It was honestly the easiest hook up I've ever had. The rapport that he had built was so good she saw how no-strings-attached the situation was.
I know it sounds like I was using him to get to girls but he is legitimately now one of my best friends. Obviously this is a extreme situation of befriending a gay guy but I highly suggest at least being cordial and friendly to gay men. A lot of straight guys approach with a little air of homophopia, and I've seen it with my straight friends who have met him. It is to your advantage to be friends with everyone, you shouldn't hold someone's sexual orientation against them.
