Coaching Review: Day Game With PUA Coach Artisan
I received some great coaching by Artisan and Josiah from www.theattractiveman.com a few weeks ago, while they were making their tour through Beijing; this detailed review should provide the Seddit community with some good pointers on inner and outer game, together with solutions to various issues that may arise during a sarge.
I’ve been coached by a number of dating coaches over the last two years, including Chase Amante, RedpoleQ, Kane Vast, and now Artisan. Coaching has cut YEARS of my learning curve and I commonly advice other guys on Seddit to get coaching themselves. Since I entered the Game four years ago, I’ve laid more hot girls than most guys ever will in a life time; it all gets down to building better beliefs about yourself and learning how to communicate them better. – You can never learn enough, and coaching can greatly help you in the right direction.
We started at Starbucks in Sanlitun (the part of town where the hottest girls go). My coaching was from 12-20, since I always much preferred day game, and I have the bulk of my lays from daytime approaches. During this coaching my objectives were to pick Artisan’s mind on inner game and to snatch myself a few instant dates, so I could get some direct feedback from my dates.
We talked a great deal about inner game, fashion, getting over lost loves, finding or interpreting the meaning behind all situations you end up in, and learning from each of those situations. Artisan showed a picture of his vision board, which is a billboard he has on the wall in his apartment in Las Vegas with pictures of all of his goals in life. Dollar signs, dollar bills, pictures of beautiful women, the word "love", travel pictures, a picture of a ripped-as-fuck guy with massive 6-packs, etc. Basically, think and grow rich. Most of the things on his board have come true, as he pointed out.
We talked a lot about screening, and screening hard as a means of becoming effective, saving time, and making sure we only get the women into our lives who we truly want. We agreed this is something I should focus on, since I'm tired of wasting time on girls who are hot, yet still mean nothing to me... I’m at a level now where, whenever I want a date, I can go down on the street and instant-date a girl within about 5 approaches. Closing them is still a sticking point, since the dating culture in Beijing generally remains different from that of the West – and I’m sick and tired of wasting time on dates who won’t close. A greater focus on screening could weed out the many girls who I only have a few things in common with, the girls who are not spunky, the ones who don’t want to get intimate as fast as I would like, as well as the self-proclaimed “traditional” and “good” girls. Women are abundant.
As part of the screening and qualification talk, Artisan had a strong focus on framing himself as the prize: "yeah, we're only friends, but if you're lucky, we can be something more". They also pointed out that women commonly have very bad game themselves, contrary to common belief, even hot women.
Artisan’s game is mainly direct game, which is something I still find very appealing, even after my Pick-Up Asia bootcamp last fall, which was centered around indirect game. According to Artisan a typical approach looks something like below and will create tension in the girl, which will commonly lead to attraction if done correctly. You should have strong eye contact, and a steady, slow voice throughout:
PUA: walking slightly in front of her: “Wait” - stopping her creates tension.
PUA: “This is totally random/crazy...”, pause. This creates more tension/a little fear (emotions dip).
PUA: “I thought you were absolutely adorable and I had to come say hi” (emotions peak).
PUA: “I’m Artisan, who are you?”, girl responds.
PUA: Soon into the interaction… “So, tell me something interesting about yourself. I want to get to know who you are”, here setting up hoops and starts screening. According to Artisan a succesful approach should usually last no longer than three minutes, and by then you should know whether you want to see this girl again or not.
During the coaching I did a few direct openers, and ended up confronted with my old common sticking point from hundreds of previous direct approaches, namely ending up in questions mode and not dealing well with the pressure, which causes me to block. Artisan told me that I could deal with this by verbalizing things this way: “It seems that I’ve finally met a girl who can make me nervous”, said with a smile. Things also do tend to be more challenging in Beijing, since I have to game most of the girls I approach in Chinese. After a few indirect openers I discovered that the ideal combination for me probably is an indirect opener, where I switch to a direct SOI not long into the opener – when I can see she is friendly and receptive. This way I felt WAY more relaxed, and gaming this way enabled me to pull three cute girls for instant dates. Fortunately for the coaching, most of the girls I met that day spoke English.
This enabled Artisan and Josiah to observe me on my dates. They confirmed that I do great at attraction game, qualification, and comfort-building, and at the end of the coaching Artisan went so far as to say that he considers my game at an upper intermediate, if not advanced level. Redposterboard became very happy ;) They pointed out that my kino was somewhat try-hard, and I was just pushing and pushing it, instead of pulling away, and applying non-verbal pull-push. One of the fixes was that whenever I qualify girls, I should pull away, lean back and put my index finger over my lips as if I were thoughtfully evaluating what the girls were saying.
On one of the dates Artisan pointed out that I was reacting to the girl not wanting to go for a concrete time-bridge, which annoyed me a little, and the girl picked up on it. "Just stay cool, NOTHING is a big deal, it DOESN'T matter!" They addressed other sticking points of mine such as my reluctance to open two-sets by saying that I MUST enter and at the very least just ask for directions. This will eventually build the belief that I'm a decisive man who goes for what he wants, and when I’m in the habit of approaching two-sets this way, I'll eventually be able to use it to my advantage. Also, they pointed out that whenever you see a girl you want to approach but for whatever reason don’t, you should always picture how things would have progressed, to keep you in that frame of mind.
Throughout the coaching I made it a point to record their feedback on my iPhone and can now access their mastery-level, tailored feedback whenever I want to be reminded of what I need to work on. Thanks for that, Steve Jobs!
Basically, Artisan and Josiah gave me a ton of great all-round feedback which is universally applicable to gaming, cultural boundaries aside, and their coaching polished my rough edges. Both guys are really chilled, laid-back, value-giving, and great guys to hang around with – down-to-earth, friendly, supportive and very likeable. You sense they have an immense knowledge of pick-up, and they both radiate a strong air of confidence. I’ve met many masters of the game; they all exude this air of confidence and ability. All in all, it was an awesome experience, and I could tell Artisan and Josiah enjoyed teaching experienced, dedicated, and cool guys too; I would recommend doing coaching with them to anyone!
TL; DR – coaching experience, inner game, screening, the direct approach, building better beliefs, date feedback.
