I'm sure you guys are familiar with people like me... I'm not exactly lacking confidence, but since I was young I've never really been especially good at socializing. It's not like I have super bad social anxiety or anything either- I've been trying to push my comfort zone (and I feel like I'm having results). But overall I really don't know what to do because I spent a majority of my time alone or just not talking.

It's rare for me to feel comfortable enough to express my confidence (if that makes any sense) and a lot of the time I just feel too bored or tired to make any proper conversation with my friends. I suck ass at small talk and I'm somewhat awkward when I talk to people. In general I just keep to myself a lot and I tend to over think things a lot (which I also have been trying to change).

I REALLY want to put myself out there and make myself known if you catch what I'm saying, but I just have a hard time getting that connection through to people. The atmosphere is always a little tense and stiff, with the exception of some very close friends. I guess I'm kind of smart but I've always envied how other people can socialize so easily.

Any advice on where to begin?

edit: Also I'm not like a social outcast or anything. I make a fair deal of social interaction every day but again it feels really shallow and I never feel like I'm making a connection to people. I feel really damn boring and average.

edit: thaaaanks guys! time to practice
