Are routines and DHV stories outdated?

Oh sure I have loads of routines and prepared material. But then, I am rather partial to the old MM. Even if you prefer natural or direct game, routines are a great fallback if you lose momentum and don't know where to go next. I think anyone who doesn't use canned material isn't using all the tools available. I encourage discussion of the techniques and talk about them often enough. But lately there seems to be some blurring between canned game and other styles. For example, some guys might not consider role playing to be a routine but that's where I learned it.

You can still use them. I am sure whenever you hear the words, "Crazy drunk story" your brain goes into auto-pilot of an awesome story when you did something stupid and could be a DHV showing that you're a fun time.

They are valid, but not commonly talked about here. /r/seduction tends to push natural game, investing in yourself to be the best you you can be. There are people here that do use DHV and routines, but they aren't as common.

This is my personal opinion based on personal experience and thought.

I've often found the real demonstration of value comes from inspiration conversation you create, that is then directed at you. I don't know why, but for some reason when I hear someone saying a story, where the word "I" is mentioned a lot, I tend to just get disinterested.

The big point I'd like to make is telling a story, or fact, etc, that inspires more to participate, but almost talk directly at you. I'm very good at this, and my key factor and ingredient is sincerity.

For example, let's say I'm with a set and they just give a cool, crunchy hippy vibe feeling. I'd probably bring something a long the lines of a music festival once. I won't tell a story that's just a direct, listen to me, and then analyze what I've told you. I'll tell the story, and display a feeling I felt, and kinda ask them if it's something they've expereienced....

Typically the result is everyone is in such a hurry to tell not just the group, but more specifically me, their experience or why I felt the way I did. People love talking to people, but better yet, people like helping people even more, it makes them feel important.

So, just a cheesy example, I'd be like, ya I went to a musical festival that had both jam bands, and EDM type music. I felt great, I had a great time, but I couldn't help but notice there was somewhat of a segregation of the listeners.

Person A, B, C, etc of the group will all come in to say why I felt that way or why it's like that.

Shit works like a charm, and even if you were an eaves dropper or a walker in on the conversation, you could easily tell, although we are all talking with each other, everything is somewhat directed to me.

This is where the value is demonstrated, NOT just to the members of said set, but any other sets watching from a distance. This is how you can repeatedly build value through a whole venue without trying.

There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding DHVs and canned material. Even the concept of what a DHV is, and what your material should include. let me clarify.

Your DHV stories are about you. They're about your own identity. You wouldn't use someone else's material unless you were absolutely starting out as a noob, so you can get the feel to create your own stories.

You do this by taking an interesting story in your life (we all have them) remove the DLV's, and insert DHVs that flip attraction switches. Like leader of men, protector of loved ones, and the most important: pre-selection. You build those into a stack, and practice your stack of your own material.

Having a stack is important because it allows you to not worry about what comes out of your mouth, but instead practice your delivery. Once that is down, you can look for IOIs that show she's attracted to you. You already have good material, so with honed delivery you can recognize IOIs and start to go into qualification, isolate and go into comfort.

If someone is telling you that the the concept of the DHV is 'outdated' then what they're really telling you is that they don't understand the game and how its played.

They no doubt work. Its also been almost ten years since the game was was published so you dont have to worry about having your cover blown as much. But you're not going to be as socially developed as someone who is natural. They're great for when hitting lulls in conversations, but if you do use them, try to make up your own routines. if you are dead set on running routines, atleast incorporate the juggler method along with the mystery method as your skeleton. This is all just my opinion, I still use MM from time to time as well.

Demonstrating high value, as an extension of being high value, is never outdated. Be the male HB7. Or 8, or 9, or 10 (I see you, imaginary billionaire version of Brad Pitt) if you can manage.

As for routines, if your routine is to go out, meet tons of girls, and have tons of fun, that never gets old either.

My canned material happens to be the stories I retell, the routines are the same. I don't have any natural game, but its like adhering strictly to a new companies rules, then when you know what you can and can't do you no longer have to.

Right now I am retelling about how my facebook account was blocked, so no one can add me there. Its actually true, but its not a seduction thing.

I also progressively get closer and closer to a girl if you call that a routine. I call it that because I do it.

Old school DHVs are frowned upon because the motivation for using them in the first place comes from a low self esteem place of deficiency and feeling the need to impress the girl. But like throwaway says if you change perspective and use it as a fallback when you want to inject some new life into the conversation or you just have a genuinely cool story you want to share, its fine.

I think routines work, but the biggest problem with using them is that they often do not fit into your persona or the type of game you are running. If you are using a cocky funny routine while not running cocky funny game, it will look out of place and weird. My best recommendation if you want to use routines is to use your own. Think of your own stories and experiences and write them down or practice telling them in a compelling way. Original material also doesn't run into the risk of her having already heard it.

But before you even try you better know how to tell a story.

If you are gonna use a story thats packed full of DHVs I would practice it over and over.

You will learn which points that give impact, and what parts of the story that you can change/remove

Canned routines have become so commonly used in PUA hotspots like Las Vegas, NYC, and Los Angeles that many girls will recognize them right away and get put off. As a result I don't think they are as effective. You can try if you want and tell us in a FR how it went.
