Hi Seddit,
Skip to the third paragraph if you don't want background info. I've been lurking on this subreddit for some time now. Earlier this year, I was set up on a blind date with a girl. I must have spent the whole week beforehand reading the side bar and trying to memorize all of the different philosophies. This date went really well and I lost my virginity that night. The problem was that I developed oneitis for this girl and she wasn't really interested in a serious relationship. It turned into a FWB situation that lasted another couple months but eventually we just dropped out of communication and things died out.
I still spend a lot of time wishing things could have been different, but I've been telling myself that I need to get out and meet more women instead of harping on the past. I usually go out with my roommate, who isn't the best wingman. Both of us are really introverted so we always convince each other that staying at our table and drinking alone is easier than getting up and socializing.
Anyway, I'll get to the actual story now. This week, I had a business meeting in a small college town. After the meeting, about half of the co-workers from the meeting all go out to a bar in the downtown area. We find a nice two-story bar and get a long table upstairs. Turns out they are having trivia that night so we get ready to play. There's a 2 set at the bar, HB6.5 and HB7, that sees how many people are on our team and they start yelling at us about how its cheating to have that many people. I'm sitting next to my co-worker and long time friend J. Our boss says to us, "You guys sat at the wrong end of the table." I look at J and say "It's go time."
We get up, go to the bar, and tell them that we are joining their team to even things out a bit. I sit next to the HB6.5 who has HB7 on her left. J sits to my right. Introductions are made and conversation is had. I'm pretty confident in my ability to hold witty, interesting conversation with lots of eye contact and I can tell HB6.5 is interested. J immediately tries to buy them drinks but I pull him aside and tell him "Trust me, don't." This ends up working out as I convince them to buy us shots several times. One of our co-workers is a middle aged AFC who continuously tries to insert himself into our conversation. He thinks hes being a wing man but he really just keeps coming off as creepy. At one point I'm trying to convince the girls that we are part of a top secret military organization and we can't really discuss what we do for fear of treason charges. They ask him what we do and he just explains it in true, boring detail. Internally I'm just like "Really, dude?"
Kino escalation has always been something That I've been nervous about trying. Intimate touching is a source of anxiety for me. I feel very awkward about people touching me and touching others. Alcohol obviously helps. To break this mental barrier for myself, I make a point early to touch her back when asking her name, and to hold the handshake a few seconds longer. During conversation, over the course of about an hour, I move on to the leg and eventually had my arm wrapped around her hip and we are sitting quite close at the bar.
Kissing is another source of anxiety for me. I've been told by a few women that I'm a bad kisser but I've been trying to approve. Though its kind of difficult when you have no one to practice with.
We lock eyes at some point after she laughs at one of my jokes and I drop the "I'm going to kiss you now" line. She moves right in and we make out for a bit. Keep in mind this is right in front of about 15 of my co-workers and they have seen this whole thing progress. Cheers erupt from the table and we continue on for a bit.
I get her number by entering "smalltownname Bat Girl" into my phone and handing it to her. I misspell "Bar" with my drunken typing. She has to go because her ride wants to go to Wal Mart so I tell her I'm staying at a hotel close by.
I hang around with my co-workers for a while who are recanting the whole thing and showering me with high fives.
I text her once I got back to the hotel with the hotel name. She just said "I remember" but she never showed up, oh well. I felt really great about how I handled things and was grinning like an idiot as I fell asleep that night. My co-workers now think I'm some sort of master PUA and there were many rumors about my actions at the meeting the next morning.
Anyway, sorry for the length. I'd put in more detail about the conversation but my memory is kind of hazy.
This experience really boosted my confidence and made me want to get out more on weekends. This shit is easy!! Now I just have to convince my roommate to read Seddit.
TLDR: mandatory sexual harassment training is in my future.
