Have you ever asked a girl to dance only to have her throw you at one of her friends? This used to happen to me occasionally -- if the friend was hot I didn't mind -- but it baffled that she always agreed. What's more, I was a lot more likely to hook up and get numbers when this happened than otherwise.

There were two problems though: first, it was just dumb luck when it did happen, and second, sometimes I was really diggin' girl #1.

One day I switched things up and voilà! Instead of approaching the girl I wanted directly, I asked the girl's friends if I could borrow her. That simple. The friends gave me a playful interrogation, but ultimately they sent me off with the girl and their blessing.

Some tips: 1) I like to approach groups of 3+. Otherwise the friend you are asking approval from would be left by herself. 2) I put my hand on the girl's back as I come and talk to her friends. This removes any doubt about which "friend" you want to borrow, and it ensures the girl of interest is a part of the conversation.
