Hello Seddit,
I am extremely pleased to release my next lesson. Since the first lesson ( 2 3 ) I posted on Seddit, many people have encouraged me to continue with them. Everyone seems to have gotten something out of them, particularly beginners, because of the analytical way in which it explains Pick-Up. I’ve hinted at the lessons becoming more technical and focused on technique, and this post will deliver that to you. The post will focus on two umbrella techniques: Qualification and Compliance
As always enjoy, and please help me by discussing in the comments.
Mr. Right’s Seduction 104 - Compliance Testing and Qualification: Game Theoretical Techniques of Pick-Up
Advanced techniques in Pick-Up will help you separate those with game from the average frustrated chump. More importantly, they will help you sift between women who are interested and those who are not. This is incredibly important due to the numeric nature of the game. You don’t want to waste all your time pursuing many different women who simply are not interested at all. These techniques will help you find women who are interested, and increase that interest. As with all techniques when it comes to pick-up, practice these until you become comfortable doing them in a natural and confident way.
Qualification
Qualification is one of the most simple and powerful techniques in all of pick-up. It sets the frame and gives you all of the power to take control of the set. The idea is that when someone meets someone that is either important, of high social value, or they are attracted to, then they often have a compulsion to prove themselves worthy of that person’s attention. The state of mind that you should be coming when you force someone to qualify themselves to you should be, ‘I am very busy, why should I spend more time interacting with this person.’
This will make you higher value, attractive and alpha in their eyes. Not only that, but you can literally tell people what to do if they have been qualifying themselves to you a lot. So how is this accomplished? It’s simple - get the person to talk about their favorite subject: themselves. Are they really into competitive swimming? Ask them if they have won any trophies. Are they musically talented? Ask them about their next concert and how did the last one go.
If you are having trouble with this technique, then take a step back. They are likely not appreciating you questioning them. This is where you can employ another technique called a Yes-ladder.
Most people involved with sales know about this technique. The idea is that once a person starts saying ‘yes’ to your questions, then they are likely to continue to do so. So you start by asking an easy question that anyone will say, ‘yes!’ to. I will provide an example of a qualifying yes-ladder from an OKCupid interaction I had this past thursday.
Mr. Right: (First message, in her profile she comments on how she has Zooey Deschanel bangs) You have bands [sic] like Zooey, but something tells me there is something about you that is cooler than Zooey. What is it?
Her: Hmm well, I am pretty adorkable like her.. I guess you'll just have to find out what makes me cooler! Hey, I'm _____ :)
Mr. Right: Hi I'm Mr. Right :) how am I supposed to find out what is cool about you?
Her: Well Mr. Right, do you have coolness deal-breaker questions you can ask to determine how cool I am? I'm sure I'd pass with flying colors! (literally she is asking me to qualify her here haha)
Mr. Right: Haha actually I do First question: would you describe yourself as someone who is looking for adventure? (let’s start this ladder)
Her: Well that's easy.. Of course I love adventures and am always looking for something crazy or amazing to do. What else ya got?
Mr. Right: Good to hear because I'm the same way. Question number two: Do you have any talents?
Her: Hmm okay. I play the piano (terribly), I can throw a mean left hook in kickboxing, I can stay underwater for 2 minutes and swim pretty fast, I can make my dog sit on command! How about you? (here she tries to qualify me, treat this like a shit-test because you don’t want to qualify yourself) And next question!
Mr. Right: By far my best talent is that I can hum along with any song that I've heard before. I know you are impressed, but try to contain your excitement ;) Ok final question to determine if you are cool... What is your number?
Her: Hahaha smooth! 111-111-1111
Compliance Testing
Traditionally, compliance testing is thought of yet another way to assert your dominance over a situation. Which is why qualifying and compliance testing go hand-in-hand. In fact, yes-ladders can be used for compliance testing and qualification purposes. I am going to try to model compliance testing in a way that has never been done before.
Ultimately, seduction is just a theory used to further understand human behavior, so it makes sense to use pre-existing models of human behavior to understand seduction. I’m going to demonstrate to you, how Game Theory can be applied to Compliance Testing.
Compliance Testing is best understood as a technique in which comfort, rapport and frame is established. This is done by asking the “participant” to do something. If they do it, then they have complied. Generally, you want to start with small requests for compliance. Things like handshakes, or even high-fives. Now the trick to the compliance test is getting repeated compliance. How is this done?
Well allow me to explain using game theory.
Compliance Test Game Theory
PUA Complies PUA Defects
Participant Complies ------ 30 ; 30 ----------------------- 10 ; 20 ------
Participant Defects -------- 20 ; 0 ------------------------- 0 ; 0 --------
*How to read: Left most # is Participant’s theoretical value ; Right most is PUA’s theoretical value
Assuming attraction for a moment, what does this graph show? First off, this is similar to the classic prisoner’s dilemma diagram. In order for both parties to both reach their maximum possible value, they both have to comply. But notice that the participant still gains value from defecting, if the PUA complies. That is because complying for a PUA means showing an indicator of interest (like a compliment). This raises the girls value when she gets this indicator of interest while still defecting, because then she clearly becomes more highly valued than the PUA. However if the participant complies, and the PUA defects, then he might look more valued for turning down a girl who is interested (caveat: depending on context, you might look like an arrogant dick).
In analyzing this chart, we notice that the participants defection is quite likely, particularly if you ask for a high level of compliance (like a kiss). Which sort of sucks for the PUA, because he clearly has greater motivation to comply. But the way we achieve mutually cooperation is by defecting when necessary, due to iterative play. This means that you keep on testing for compliance. Every time the participant complies, the PUA should give an Indicator of Interest. But the only response to defection is defection. Tit for Tat. So in the case, do not respond with an IOI, and even possibly show some disinterest. Neither party wants to receive the zero value that occurs from mutually defecting. This will create greater assurance that there will be compliance in the future, even with tasks that require greater trust - like sex.
Both of Qualification and Compliance techniques are extremely useful for putting yourself in control of a situation. It indicates that you are the alpha male and a more desirable/higher status individual.
Assignments
Engage in a conversation using a yes-ladder. Notice how it is very easy to chain the conversation using this paradigm and the attraction can build up through simple spontaneous routines. End by trying to get her to comply to something she may not have - like a #-close.
