If you do go out, just make it fun. Introduce yourself to people, mix, mingle, do whatever. No rules, no regulations, just fun.

I don't think it's weird at all. From a college kid perspective, it might seem weird not to have a group of friends to flock back to if things aren't going well with whoever you're scouting out. But think about it this way - when you're alone, you have an air of mystery about yourself. People can't judge you (for better of for worse) based on your group of friends. You're just that really confident dude who came to the party by himself. It's also great practice for meeting new people- girls or guys, which is really attractive for girls. For someone to be able to mingle with strangers and get along with different groups of people is a really attractive feature in a person. I understand your hesitation, and I think being able to go to events and parties by yourself does take practice. But I think it's a worthwhile effort that will help develop not only your "seduction" skills, but your basic social skills as well.

Going to parties alone is actually what really jump-started my social life in college.

A lot of times when I would go to parties with friends I'd just stay in that small group the whole time, maybe meeting a new person here and there or trying to flirt with a few girls. But when you go alone, you have no choice but to meet new people. I've met so many of my friends by just walking up to them at parties and introducing myself.

This can feel like an awkward thing to do at first, but after a while it just becomes automatic and casual. Also if you're feeling nervous some liquid courage can do wonders. Some people in seddit preach against drinking but as long as you don't get embarrassingly drunk all the time it's fine, and can really help you enjoy the night better.

I prefer going out alone. That way I get to do whatever I want. I just go and talk to everyone. Have fun, crack jokes, make people laugh, tell stories. Shit everyone I talk to says I'm a fun person and they want to be around me.
