I recently had an experience that made me rethink the 'friendzone'; a term which I hate to use but I think when it's said everyone who reads this will be on the same page as to what I'm talking about.

I met a girl at a club a few weeks back, we chatted it up for about a half hour, there was obvious attraction and she was very smart & witty, after talking we got down to the dance floor. She showed obvious interest and really let it be known that she wanted me to be aggressive (part of which was 'saving' her from a dude who she wasnt really interested in), and so I obliged. We danced and it got pretty physical, ass grabbing and pulling her really close etc. after a while she needed to link up with her friends so we exchanged info and went our separate ways.

She had texted me late that night / early that morning (2/3 AM) and I responded later that morning (10/11 AM), this led to us going out to brunch that next day and hanging out in the city for a few hours. I walked her home but didn't kiss her, I kind of bitched out here, but she lives on top of a hill and I was winded. Whatever.

A week later we met and went to a wine bar, we have great conversation and go bar/lounge hopping for a bit, we end up making out in the lounge then making out in my car as well, I drive her home and say "let's go upstairs" to which she respectfully declines, I'm disappointed but she has a bit of a 'good girl' vibe so I'm not surprised.. I think I can get in her pants eventually so I'll take the loss here, either way we keep making out.

A day later I text her saying I had a great time and she hits me with the bomb: she just got out of a serious relationship and isn't ready for something serious or whatever right now, she thinks I'm a great guy and would like to remain friends. I pretty much shut it down right there saying that I don't think we can be friends because of how I feel about her.

That was about 10 days ago but now I'm reconsidering saying no, not sure if I'll text her back and take her on seeing as I might have burned that bridge, but is it a good move to remain in the friendzone and actually have a pretty attractive female friend to hang out with? I recently moved to a new city and most of the people who I heavily interact with are women, I can count one or two friends and a few FWBs, but I feel like having attractive female friends to hang out with isnt really a bad thing in the grand scheme of things, as long as I'm not falling in love with her (which I'm not) right? I think she can be a cool wingwoman and since we are both new I can have her check out interesting places with me.

Am I being nuts here in seeing the advantage of being friendzoned / putting someone in the friendzone?
