Great question man. In Art of War, Sun Tzu says that every battle is won or lost before it is fought. While I don't agree completely, there's a lot of truth. If he is super high status or really good looking, you're kind of fucked. If you haven't demonstrated massive value to the girl already, maybe accept that you can't win em all.

Maybe you need to escalate sooner rather than later. If she just made out with you 20 seconds ago she's not likely to entertain newcomers unless they're fucking Matthew McConnahaaaaay. I personally have problems with physical escalation in public. I know when to do it but it feels so strange doing in front of people, especially ones I know well. Dat seckshewal shame.

If you guys are about even in ballerhood, be friendly with him, kino him in an alpha way when he says funny shit, and give a genuine laugh if he tries to get sexual with the girl. Paint him as a lovable thirsty horndog, while you are a guy who is here to be social AND pick up. His response is to either a) deny he is trying to pick up (should be obvious to everyone here that this will kill him), b) he admits it. B makes it harder for you, especially if his response is particularly witty. My most effective has been "don't worry man it'll happen you just have to keep trying." You have an advantage, and that is that you are ahead of him in the seduction process with this girl. This statement reminds both him and the girl of this fact in a very direct but socially acceptable way. Immediately after you say this, say goodbye to him in a very friendly manner (without giving him a chance to respond) and physically escort the girl away.

Thanks man, made me hash over some things I've been toying with recently. Especially this one idea about "speaking down" to others in a plausibly deniable way.

First, stay relaxed. The frame is not that you are all competing for her- rather that she would be lucky to have you. If you get huffy, you reinforce the wrong frame. Then try to just be cool as fuck. Most guys that initially seem super polished fall apart rather quickly. If it really is Tom Brady though, live to fight another day my friend.

I never assume a girl will end up in bed with me till I close the deal. I always assume it will happen, but girls be crazy. I do remember I had this happen on a first date once, was a very easy fix. I just monopolized his time, and engaged him with questions. The trick was to use terms that made you sound like a couple, basically treating the situation like you already won the girl. The idea is he will get the idea and move on and you make it hard for him to make a direct connection with her. If she decides to ditch you she was not worth it.

I would just like to reiterate what Ciclelurker90 said. As Sun Tzu said every battle is won or lost before it is fought. What this actually means it that if this guy comes over and you start arguing with him or outdoing him you have lost and if he does the same he will also have lost as the girl will not like this behaviour.

Also as Circlelurker90 has said if he is really looking and got good game... there is nothing you can do. You've met your match it is probably best to just give up and let the other guy have her. As they say "Know when it is time to move one. Always."

On the other hand it does depend on the context and complexity of the situation. For instance if you just met her in the bar out of the blue then obviously she is fair game for everyone. If you have met her a few times in the past then it would be out of line for her to go with the other guy in front of your own eyes.

The moments 'this other' guy joins you is the very moment you want to take action. There are, in my opinion, two ways to go 1. Lead and immediately remove the girl, " Hey! i totally forgot. I had to show you something but not here, lets get outside." To the guy' "Sorry Bro! We gotto go". Once you are outside with the girl, you can be honest, "I didn't like that guy interrupting us so i had to get you out of the situation". This will spark attraction. Trust me on this i have tried it plenty of times. 2. You can frame the guy as an Beta guy. Show appreciation for his words and time. Be nice and while you are doing that keep framing yourself as THE LEADER, keep control of the conversational threads. "That was a nice story but you know once i was......" "That is just like when....."

I would just put my arm around her and smile at her then look at the guy continuing to smile, pretty much telling him to go away. If you got her to the point of going to bed, this will work. It conveys an alpha sense to her as well.
