Your natural instinct is going to be to cave in right off the bat. Next time something confrontational happens, just take a second and assess the situation. You don't need to react instantly, take a second to really think it through.

Funny, this happened to my female friend last night.

I'm going to go with something counter-intuitive: Lift weights.

No seriously. There's a shit load of evidence out there showing that lifting weights as a guy does a tonne for your self-esteem, both psychologically and physiologically (i.e. your brain literally changes to make you more confident).

Want to be more assertive? Lift weights.
