So, Saturday marked about my 300th cold approach (night game) at a guess.

Since starting pickup (at an old age - i'm 30) I got laid on my first ever cold approach, and then the next 299 approaches were all various forms of rejection. (some short interactions, some longer interactions with makeouts, some harsh instant rejections etc. A mixed bag!)

I feel particularly down about it at the moment and am thinking about taking a few months off of approaching/trying to get laid. The rejection and lack of improvement is hurting my confidence, and then that lack of confidence extends into future interactions, so it kind of feels like going backwards.

Somebody else suggested that it (taking a break) might be a good idea, but I wondered whether anyone thought that 'taking a break' is NOT a good idea!? Only reason I can think of that it might not be good, is that I don't have a great deal of approach anxiety at the moment, and I guess that could come back in full force if I don't approach any girls for a few months.

So that's my main question ; thoughts on taking a break.

Regarding my own thoughts on why I suck and where I need to improve if I decide to carry on:

1/ Coming across as 'needy'. I try to not be boring and so try to be fun, but that can sometimes appear desperate and turn the girls off. I know it's more important to 'self amuse' rather than 'make her laugh', but then I struggle on how to amuse myself! Maybe it's a matter of being too tense, or maybe i'm just a robot and I can't 'self amuse'!

2/ Bad at conversation! I plan to see my GP soon as I am starting to think that I have some sort of adhd or something which might explain why I struggle to converse with girls. Only thing that possibly contradicts this is that I feel I am fairly good at talking to people I know (so maybe my brain is OK?)- It's just talking to strangers where I never know what to say! It's almost like a part of my brain hasn't developed properly. Naturally, this makes talking to girls who are fairly guarded/non-talkative (as most girls tend to be at first after you approach them) very difficult!

I don't know what the answer is, but If I had to take a guess, I'd say the difference between me and a 'normal' guy when it comes to talking to girls, is that they just say things about themselves. They like talking about themselves. So they aren't just asking questions. They contribute more. They free associate. They express more opinions.

Sometimes I wonder whether the problem is that i'm actually not interested in these girls! (i.e I don't care where they are going that night, who they ar with etc!). And that's why I struggle to think of what to say. But I can't help that!! I can't control the working of my inner mind. And if that IS part of the cause, how to 'fix' that?!!

3/ the idea of state transference. I definitely feel as though I sometimes make the girls feel awkward/uncomfortable/anxious, as a direct result of me feeling that way. But I feel this way because I am very much aware of my weaknesses (like, I know that I am gonna run out of things to say withing a few minutes after i've asked a few questions and made a few statements)

The only time i've managed to have long, fun interactions with a girl is when there is some sort of roleplay going on. A while ago, I opened a girl by pretending to be a bouncer in a bar and telling her she was too drunk. She obviously knew that I wasn't a bouncer, but we played this 'game' for ages, and I was talking nonsense about pretending to have seen her start fights with other drinkers etc etc. After a while she was completely relaxed in my company - touching me etc. I got a makeout with her later on.

How else to be relaxed/confident? If I had excellent conversation skills and could always think of things to say, I'd be relaxed and confident. But I don't. I'm even curious about maybe taking something like xanax to make me super relaxed, and then see how my interactions go! Maybe me being super relaxed would make her feel super relaxed!?
