Look, this sort of comment doesn't come out of nowhere. If you really want to improve, you ought to think about answering the following:

How did you actually approach?
What was your opener? What did you say and do, exactly?
What was she doing when you approached?
How did she respond to your opener, exactly?

That was pretty original, laughed quite a bit and asked her permission to use it on other girls :)

You laughed. But was she joking? Unless she was, she said that for a reason, and if you want to improve, there needs to be some introspection as to what you did to inspire her to respond the way she did.

Reason why I don't approach. In most cultures, just talking to a random stranger is so weird that you're considered mentally challenged. I'm not even kidding, the only random people who started talking to me in public over the past months were mentally handicapped.
