All you have to do to is ask questions WITHOUT GIVING YOUR UNSOLICITED OPINION. For example, ask what she's studying in college. If she says Pre-Med, don't say, "that's awesome! youre prob pretty smart then." Instead, say, "Ok. Is it hard?"

This is excellent advice. Just a subtle change, but it could have a massive effect on the direction of the conversation. Not giving opinions, and keeping asking, makes things more mentally intimate quickly.
