In the past year I: Graduated College Moved to a new city Got out of a long relationship Started my first full time job Got a full on six pack for the first time in my life Started producing music Travelled to a slew of countries in Europe
The year before that, and essentially every year of my adult life leading up to last year have been more or less the same. Filled with new and exciting tasks. In fact, just writing this makes me more fully aware of how great life has been up to this point.
And on paper, my life is honestly pretty great. Despite this, I have been feeling extremely stagnant and bored with life recently. It just seems like I've fallen in to this routine that on the surface, would seem really fulfilling, but it's instead driving me crazy. It's not like I stopped working on myself or anything like that. Quite the contrary. I'm currently working on my first mixtape which I plan to release later this year, my gym progress has been great, and I've been doing very well on my projects at work. After all of this is said and done, it doesn't really leave much time in the day to add anything new or exciting into my life. While all of that is exciting in its own right, it just seems like the same old thing day in and day out. With college and everything, there was always someone new to meet, some big test to pass or at the very least, something interesting going on in a close friend's life.
What's worse is that this feeling of stagnation is really starting to affect my game. Sure, everything I do sounds cool, but I just find it hard to portray my passion for the things I'm working on when life feels so dull to me. I feel this passion is what really drew girls to me in the first place, and now that it is starting to die out, I find a really hard time finding success. In fact, even the very act of talking to girls has gotten so routine that I have a hard time throwing myself into it. Sometimes, I'll have a girl I'm interested in approach me when I'm out and I'll just brush her away because I don't feel like putting in the effort to build a connection with her.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's felt like this. I'd imagine it's pretty common for recent grads settling down to the 9 to 5 life. If you've been there (or even if you haven't) what did/would you do to get out of this rut?
