Hello, r/trp. My wife(30) and I(31) have been married for 6 years now, and things are starting to reach it's breaking points for the both of us. We both agreed that counseling is needed, which we both agreed to do. She persist that divorce is never an option, but I feel like I could be set up for failure here. Should I at least, speak to a lawyer?

Update #1: took the consensus advice, which was go ahead and consult an attorney. Called a few in my area, that offered free consultations, just to get a feel. Spoke with three attorneys from different offices. All three, seeing that I was a male, it was about protecting as much of my money and assets as possible. What was shocking was that all three said, if we are still on speaking terms, try and get a mutual divorce. That would save me tons of money. One attorney told me that since I was so young and young children are involved, be sure that this is the complete end, and try every avenue possible, because this could effect so much than financially. He seemed more genuine about my situation, rather than jumping to the divorce decision. I'm going to give it s few more days, sleep on it. Thanks for all the support r/asktrp, you guys are awesome.
