What are the "rules for engagement" when approaching women during the day?

Non-commital casual approach.

Approach her so she sees you coming, but stand with your body facing partly away from her. Leave her ample room to move away from you. Make it clear you want to talk to her, but its not the end of the world if she doesnt.

Make it short, but end it with a number close or if you time have ask her to join you for coffee/tea right now.

A day time phone number is a million times more worth than a night time clubbing number. She WILL remember you.

I think there's a big difference in going to the grocery store/mall/public place with the intent to hit on women, and going there for your own purpose, then coming across a woman you find attractive and wanting to hit on her.

If you're also shopping and chat a woman up in the produce section while you both pick out avocados, that's comes off way less creepy than directly approaching her out of nowhere. She knows you're a man of purpose (shopping) but go for what you want when you see it (her). You can still be direct, sexual, and dominant during these interactions, which is why I think 'game' is better as a switch you turn on when you need it, rather than something you're playing constantly. Look at Don Draper. He goes about his business, but when he sees a girl he wants, he flips on the switch.

I know it's promoted here a lot, but I really think going out to 'game' girls with the sole intent to woo her is pretty lame--oftentimes they can smell it from a mile away--and is used mainly to help guys get over their fear.

But, I also have problems going after women who don't give "choosing signals", or what I think are called ioi's here (indication of interest). When they make eye contact or smile, you know they're physically attracted, so as long as you're somewhat smooth, you stand a good chance. Without those signals, you have to create the attraction, and that's where the advanced game comes in. That being said, you never hear girls say, "this attractive guy hit on me in public and creeped me out the other day..." unless the guy was a total asshole/douche. It's usually, "this old man said some creepy, overtly sexual one-liner." Even without the ioi's, looks really will help as a buffer for the creepiness that can sometimes precede random encounters.
