People are going to say its a mind game, but I disagree. Sometimes I get a text when I'm busy and I read it, but I need to think to formulate a response so I'll wait until I can do that. That's probably what's happening, honestly. Dont read into it too much, just try to match her speed.

If I reply to a text right away, every time, it seems to take the chase away and then I don't hear from him again. We aren't trying to be rude (most of us) we are just trying to play the game right. Yes, these games suck!

Is that important to you that they reply you as fast as your own standards require?

It also depends to what they are supposed to reply. Did you propose a date same day? Or was it any meaningless conversation?

I take my time or don't bother replying to girls that are at the mid to bottom of my options. I assume that girls do the same, except their options are 10x larger than mine. The worse thing you can do is send needy, follow up texts when she doesn't respond. She might be on the fence about you, exploring other options (that may very well not work out), or be busy with other priorities in her life. Needy texts just push you to the bottom of the list. Just move on to the next girl, and/or get more girls.

I mean, if I really like a girl, I will pursue, but I give it at least a week or 2 before texting her again.

From personal experience, because I want to show I'm not super clingy. Once I found the right guy though, it didn't matter, he isn't great at texting, so even though I'd quickly reply, he wouldn't because of his busy schedule. When he was home for the night we would chat for hours back and forth, until one of us fell asleep. Then we hung out for weeks on end, until one of us went out of town or something- but then it was right back to texting- hope you have a great day, hope to talk to you later, stuff like that. If shes interested, she'll text you back. But the general rule of thumb is text back in about 3 hours if you like the guy, seem like you're busy, but you would still like to keep up with them. That was taught to me in middle school, and I followed that up to my college years. -19 F
