I think Dad bods matter more on Tinder than IRL.
The key is going to be getting your mind in a calm state. I got some good tips from the book Emotional Intelligence.
One trick I got from somewhere is when you're talking to someone and you start to feel anxious, tell yourself in a firm, inner voice: Slow Down.
Another trick is to imagine going back in time to your younger self when you were experiencing stress. Pretend you are talking to your younger self and telling that self, whatever you needed to know at the time to feel calm and safe, but nobody told you. I gather this works because we all carry that scared, dumb kid inside of us and in times of stress the kid's maladapted responses come back to us. Calm down your inner kid.
Finally with attractive women in particular you should find "eye contact practice" vids on youtube. Watch them, look into the girl's eyes and practice losing your nervousness and tension. Feel her beauty and calmness in your body and welcome the happy, calm feeling you get.

Thanks! I'll try to calm down and work on eye contact (a major weakness for me, for sure)

You put women on a pedestal, you’re telling yourself you have to have the best pickup line to start the introduction or else you’ll be forgotten in the haze of the billion other guys who walked up just to spit game. Stop treating them like they’re special and treat them like your homeboys, stop giving a fuck about whether they will like what you say or act. Going to the gym isn’t gonna give you confidence with women, women don’t give a shit about your body unless you have an attractive face to go along with it. You wanna gain confidence with women? Keep asking them out, you’ll eventually rub that awkwardness out and you’ll be a normal person and then you can show her the real you, not the you you’re trying to craft for them to like. Good luck.
Thanks man. I'll give it a shot. Don't want to feel like the 40 year old virgin anymore lol XD

Do you have trouble with one on one situations with the hot girls or only when other people are around?
[–]spellbee231 6 years ago [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link
Both --- if anything, I'm more comfortable when there are other people but I'm still awkward.

So the first thing I’d recommend is buying a few audiobooks, the first one I would recommend is how to be a 3% man by Corey Wayne, this book doesn’t have much about pickup or attracting them but it has a lot of info on dating how to keep them interested and how to act so they stay interested. You can but almost any book on pickup and could just start with the mystery method which kinda spawned this stuff. If you try and do all the techniques he talks about you’ll be totally stuck in your head and it won’t work. Instead work on one thing at a time when making approaches until you master it and then add another. You’ll have a good general idea of how to act and behave as to not turn her off if you read the first one will make the second one easier to execute.
You can read about inner game all you want but until you experience positive results from it you won’t feel it. That’s why the outer game stuff works and as you see positive results it helps feed the inner game. Also start going to the gym at least twice a week (ideally 4 times a week) this will also help you feel better about yourself and build confidence faster, I would also recommend choosing one new fun hobby. If it’s something you can work into your seduction with girls is even better! I play guitar and have played for years (boxing is the new hobby I’ve taken on) but I can get a girl over my place and swooning as soon as I play something for her. That wasn’t why I learned it but it’s an added bonus.

So you have trouble flirting and attracting the girls you are interested in?
[–]spellbee231 6 years ago [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link
Yeah exactly --- I can tease and be funny and be myself when I'm not sexually attracted to someone (case in point is my interactions with female friends who I'm not attracted to), but the moment a flicker of attraction sets in, I develop this kind of inferiority complex and freeze.
So read them books and just fight through it try doing one flirty thing with a girl you like each day and build from there.

It may take years for that to start to go away but if you don’t take action you’ll never be happy.
[–]spellbee231 6 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link
Thanks! I'll give the book a read soon.

I’ll be honest unless you can’t download audible and download the book for free cuz you get a free book for downloading. Your making excuses and or being lazy. You have to be proactive and make changes now! Not tomorrow but now! I just got my fridnd to read that book he said the same thing you said I’ll check it out which means thanks for the advice but I’m looking for a way to get what I want with less effort. Download audible, download the audiobook and listen to it on your commute to work or in your car, even while your eating or working out. I’d like to see you succeed so I’m not attacking you but your answer sounds equivalent to when a girl says maybe Saturday for a date that means 95% no but if I have absolutely nothing better going on and am bored as fuck maybe ill grace you with my presence.

Started reading it bro... .so helpful! I had a few awkward encounters before I read it, but I can't wait to try again.

Yeah it helped me a lot when I first read it. It doesn’t have much on pickup but is just a good guideline on how to act around them in general which no pickup book seems to talk about. It really helps to gauge their interest level a lot and learn to read between the lines.
Hppy to hear you actually took the advice and read it cuz most guys wouldn’t. Your gonna end up doing good with this. It may take a year cuz it is a learning process but if your apply your current skills approach and apply the knowledge from that book you’ll be get it. Also I highly recommend reading it or I listened to it 7-10 times he says that for a reason. The shot starts really becoming a part of your life cuz you just have it in your memory and remember what to do.

Quit thinking about yourself so much and think about them. Sounds harsh, it’s what slowed me down which is why I’m sharing. All I was thinking about is how I come across, if I say the right things, should I have got a haircut, etc.
Instead, think about how you can help them have a better day, have a laugh or smile, have them excited for something new in life, etc. Make it about them — everyone in this world is walking around with stress and fears, same with 9/10 women who seem like they have it all together.
Become more selfless, so you can get out of your head and connect with others
EDIT: Also, don’t expect to say things perfectly. Humans are imperfect. Make mistakes and know that no one really cares as much as you do. Have fun with it when you do screw up. Like there’s days I stutter and brain fart and I just straight up tell them “Yeah my brain broke. Have a great day!” and they just laugh and we live our lives.
Thanks so much! This is so helpful and I'll try my best, but --- as I am sure you know --- it will be difficult to change my mindset. But I'm gonna try. This semester led to a bit of depression due to one-itis and a few related instances where I bailed instead of trying.
[–]serpx 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, definitely don’t expect change overnight. Personally I’d just start small. Focusing on doing 1 thing that you’re confident you can do that can get you started.
Like asking a hot girl in your class a school related question, and then maybe try to add 1 personal question with it during the discussion or something since you’re already good with non-personal stuff.
And have you thought about joining a fraternity? That helped me a lotttt with women.
Good idea. I'm a junior and not rushing was a big mistake on my part, as I thought I had enough friends (but I didn't think of the relationship aspect).
[–]serpx 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's not too late. I joined literally the last semester of my senior year. One of the best decisions I've ever made in college. Boosted up my confidence game with women tremendously (especially hotter women). And you of course don't have to join a frat for this -- it just helped push me.
Aight sounds good! I'll talk to some of my friends in frats and see how hard it is to get in as a junior.
